There are lots of non english spokers interested into AH, most of them having a hell of hard time trying to understand the english written help files and web pages. What about some translation work, at least for help files?
-
If you know a second lanquage go right ahead.
I'm sure if you offerend HTC a copy of the help files in Spanish they'd be delighted to post it.

Exactly... Translation is a difficult and expensive process. HTC is a small company which likely lacks the resourses to commission a study on various international markets to even find out what languages would be profitable to translate into.
Instead, we might look to our multi-lingual player base to help set up unofficial help pages in their native languages. Perhaps this is unfair to ask of the player community, but I don't think it will get done otherwise.

Perhaps it is as easy as buying a professional translator for less than 200$.

I don't believe that you can deliver a professional quality product using only a $200 translation program. I could be wrong, but I did work as a translator, I do have some experience.

I seem to remember reading recently that HT is speaking to various players about writing manuals.......any bi-lingual players may want to contact HT about translation services.
Er.....of course, if I'm wrong then HT is gonna get 30 calls from people with strange accents now and will prolly blame me. :D

I guess you can, but you'll need a translator each one, two, maybe 3 languages (if you are lucky), so maybe this will become very expensive.
Maybe the way ghosth suggested cut be a good idea.
-
nice idea but ...
how will HTC be sure of the quality of the translation ?
how will HTC deal with error in translated manual ?
and finally how will HTC keep the translated manual up to date ?(*)
(*) especially when working with non professional translator
-
While manuals and help files may at present be a bit too much to ask, small things such as advertising events in the target sectors own time zone would seem to be nothing more than common sense.
It could be better.

Can't he just use one of those free online translation programs?
I know they are not the best, but at least it's something, and it's free.
Aside from that, how many forgeign speaking players would HTC need to offset the cost of translating the manual, if they decided to do so?
How's this?
Consiguiendo comenzado con colmo de los as a conseguir comenzado con los as colmo, usted necesitará descargar apenas la transferencia directa baja de la página de la transferencia directa. I've taken the liberty of translating the greeting:
Spanish:
Dé la bienvenida a Ases Alto donde todo el avión aliado se overmodelled y los aviones de eje se porked.
French:
Bienvenu aux As Haut où vous pouvez abattre des Américains et les Anglais jusqu'à ce que geignent et le fromage sort de votre nez.
Russian:
Добро пожаловать В тузы Высоко, где Вам дают возможность показать свинью империалиста только, как превосходящий Российский самолет действительно.
German:
Wir können zwei im letzten Jahrhundert verloren haben, aber das bedeutet es ist zu spät nicht. Kommen Sie zu Assen Hoch, und Hilfe fordert das zurück, der rechtmäßig unser ist.

ROFLOL!!!! I meant a professional translator, what the hell u used to translate that? ;) The "chascan" part is specially funny.
Straffo, HTC will be sure of the quality of their translation based on the ammount of whines :D
In any case, reading something with "some" sense in your language is better than reading something u cant understand at all.

Here is the problem with that. When you run that trho the translator back to English this is how it reads....
Obtaining begun with overflow of the ace to obtain begun with the ace overflow, you will need to unload as soon as the direct transference loss of the page of the direct transference. Except the file to a location in its computer that you will remember. After the direct transference is complete, locates the file in their computer and begins the double-chascando installation in the file. Once the overflow of the ace is installed, chasque ignited the beginning, indicates their mouse to the programs, then they indicate its mouse to the high entrance of the ace, then they chascan ignition the high icon of the ace in the pop-up menu.
This is your translation stuck back into the alta vista translator.
It does the same thing in Spanish or German
You have to translate the translation.

Teachers in Fla must be fluent in Spanish to be certified or they cant teach. When Aces High becomes this politicaly correct the world will be ended.Cats and dogs living together in sin.Total anarchy. Granted it is better to have a broader base, but the cost to do so must also be a factor.
-
Anyone who doesnt speak english can always use The Fish (http://babelfish.altavista.com/) It's far from perfect, and gets the meaning across without forcing HTC to put up an all-your-base quality translated manual. Or just learn english. :D
-
Pilots around the world are required to speak the english language, therefore all Aces High Pilots must, too.:) :D ;) :p

I am a software architect for a development group that markets a "global" product. I reserached these types of "translators" and my conclusion was ... SIMPLY CRAP !!!
We chose a professional translation group and it cost us PER WORD to do the translations. Not cheap, but the results are perfect.
We have players chipping in and making maps for HTC, why not some of our multi-lingual players taking the same initiative.
