Seen lots of whining about the La7..and it definatly is a great plane.
It should be noted that the 3 gun version is quite a bit more usefull then the 2 gun version. I was looking around and stumbled across some info on the 3 gun La7 that was interesting...

Look at the cowl changes..any effect on performance from that...
here is the accompaning text..
"La-7 (Moscow): The KP La-7 kit actually represents an aircraft built at the Moscow (or Omsk) State factories, with an armament of two 20mm ShVAK cannon. However, the Production Contract specification for the La-7 actually stipulated an armament of three of the new Berezin B-20 'lightweight' cannon, each with 130 rounds. Such was the enormous demand for the B-20, however, that only at one factory-- the model Zavod 381 facility at Moscow-- was the La-7 aircraft actually so completed. These fearsome three-gun models were simply referred to as "B-20 Lavochkin-7s", and they were highly prized by VVS pilots"
This 3 b20 version almost sounds like a perk version of the Aircraft..
130 rounds per gun...any opinions on the accuracy of that?
60 less 20mm is nothing to sneeze at ....
I wish I had good info on these soviet AC but I do not. The only books I have come across are just too sparse in real info....
oops..these guys deserve a link to their cool site..

Our La-7 in AH has the 3 B-20 loadout as an option. Is this something different?
-
ED,
Our La-7 with three B-20s has 150 rounds per gun.
That is interesting Pongo, but I still don't see how the La-7, which is only in 4th place in usage, is worthy of being perked. I doubt the two ShVak loadout is taken very often, so the three B-20s don't push it anywhere near F4U-1C numbers.

The real reason people want the La-7 perked IMHO is because you can't get near a furball without some drooling quakehead 2 week wonder deciding to take his target fixation syndrome out on you for 3 grids while all you are trying to do is exit the fight. THAT is the problem with the La-7... too many dorks are so intent on getting a kill they'll chase you forever. I however find great pleasure in dragging these dweebs into no-man's land, pulling scissors on'em and blowing them away... goobs.

Just some info on the plane..no answers.
The ammo load out should be looked at.
I had never seen a diagram or picture of what the 3 cannon version looked like. If it was as rare as a 4 hispano spit v or a 2 hispano Hellcat then maybe we should rethink its useage.

Dont really care if it gets changed or not but I gotta say those 3 thin bulges look terrible... ;)
