Title: Are Spitfire #'s declining?
Post by: Steven on May 30, 2002, 10:38:12 AM
Other than my F4U-1, there are two non-Spits in this image.  This has me concerned about the lack of Spitfire usage in the MA.

:D

For base defense ... there isn't a better plane than a Spit to do the job ... simple as that. If I am correct, that looks like A29 last night (Knights attacking Bish).

The snapshot is a little misleading because it's just one angle and one moment in time...there were more Spits out there!   LOL.  And, there were lots of LA7s out there too.

I can't remember what base that is, but it's our Knight's CV attacking a land base to the NW of the map Wed evening PDT.  So the green "Spits" are actually Seafires, but there were a good deal of green F4Us and F6Fs.  It was a great fight.  The picture is a bit tongue-in-cheek, but this place is becoming Spitfire's High IMO.

Come on ... let's not start with the "Only real men fly ..." crap again.

It is such a droning WHINE. Worse than the air raid and base under attack sounds put together, except I can't rename it to put an end to it.

Jeesh, you fly what you want to fly, and leave everybody else to fly what they want to fly.

Also, if I am defending a base that is under heavy attack, I will roll the 'ole Spit IX out of the garage and go to work.

Slapshot,

The only whining going on is your whining about what others post.  It's no knock against the Spitfire fan or pilot and it's quite insulting to twist this into a "plane choice has bearing on your manhood" debate.  No where is that even remotely mentioned.  Fact is, there are a lot of Spitfires in the arena and I thought this was a funny picture from a recent film I was viewing.

Don't whine about what people want to post.

What's funny is that I posted the wrong picture anyway.    This one has 13 Spits, 1 Zeke and my F4U.

I do fly what I want to fly.
