Title: Miss Universe and Intl Politics
Post by: Tac on May 30, 2002, 12:53:56 PM
You got it... Miss Russia won.

Don't get me wrong, she's GORGEOUS, but her winning at this precise moment when the allied nations need to secure Russia's cooperation, especially now that its in the UN....

well, too fishy imo. Also of interesest was China ending in 3rd place. First contestant they send too.

I stopped believing these pageants were won by the candidates themselves a long time ago, i'm just glad those pulling the strings under the curtains have the decency to send such beautiful women to the contest :)

Congrats Russia (no pun intended)!

Wow... I missed it completely... There definetly are some things better then flaming on a BBS :)

Still looking for a good photo of her.

Damn. She serves in Militia... What a nonsence! :)

Looks like they are trying to develop a positive image of Russia after 80 years ;)

Is this thread really intended to correlate global politics with the Miss Universe competition?

I'm sorry... I find that incredibly funny.

Hmmm...

If I'll see such a Militia "warrior" in the street - I'll ask her to check my documents and arrest me for at least three hours, according to the law...

OK I saw about 5 min. of the show with my wife, then we had to change it. Couldn't stop laughing. Picture this:

Miss Albania, strutting her silicon self down the walkway in a low cut dress and looking like something from a Baywatch episode. In the background we hear Miss Albania's voice saying "I come from the same homeland as Mother Theresa, I am proud to have something in common with her." Turns and shakes her fine bellybutton up te walkway. The irony was too much for me.

BTW, Miss Russia looks like she's from California. ;)

Dudes, it's not like anyone outside the US pays much attention to Miss Universe.  I mean the whole thing is geared towards the US media.  A couple years back I was in Nicosia when the Miss Universe show came through (a little too small of a town in which to hide a couple busloads of attractive young females).  The pageant itself started at 4 AM so that it'd be prime time in the US.  Sinbad was the emcee.  Now you non-US citizens might not know Sinbad, and that's for a reason.  We don't export junk like that.
International Competition? More like a competition for the US with international contestants.

Well, I got the crap beaten outta me in ENGLAND when Miss Bermuda won...the Brits that did it seemed to think Miss UK should have won...so I would question what you have said here.

when goverment need to support someone, he/she is invited into Army
then she will get high grade, that mean big monthly income and goverment is lucky , that she is supported and all is legal

most of Czech athlets like Dvorak, Zelezny are high grade`s in our army.
