Title: Plane K/D counter
Post by: indian on March 26, 2000, 11:23:00 PM
HT and Pyro can we loose the counter of the planes K/D in the arena all it does is start arguments. It show's no real data unless you can seperate vulching from airborne kills. What the planes do is not as important as what the pilots do. Only know of one plane that recieved a award, that was for 100 flights with no mechanical problems.

Indian, We know how you feel about your F4UC's cannons, but I don't think the way to address the problem is to remove some of the evidence...   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Its not the cannons. Fot years I have heard that if it wasnt in the war dont include it. Now we have a US heavy cannon equiped plane which did fight in the war and everyone wants it out. I say bring out the F4u-4b and see who everyone whines after that. This is game and only a game we cant reinact WWII we cant have full realism on a computer. There aint that many of us out here who realy flew a WWII warbird in the first place, so noone here is an expert. Reading data is one thing flying the real thing is another. Ask HT he flew a P51.

Give me the data.

Let me decide what stats are meaningful or not.

"For years I have heard that if it wasnt in the war dont include it."

Ditto Indian. Not to send the topic off on a tanget but.... This practice of thinking would lend an artificial advantage for the Axis powers (not talking REAL WWII here - for the folks who would think so -talking perfect worlds in online sims) because EVERYTHING the Axis pulled out of a hangar and flew, summer of '44 on, could be considered 'in the war' due to the fact that the sky over these factories and testing bases were in Allied hands and the test pilots literally flew these "first flights" in a hostile environment.
Not so for the Allies. Especially for the US who equipped up squadrons with F7F's, F8F's, P-47M's, P-51H's, P-80A's and P-82A' but since they did not fly over the Axis homelands does that mean they do not count?
Not to mention the planes that were developed, flown but then cancelled when the powers that be said not to bother with them because the war would be over shortly.

Ok. Now back to the Statisticians War!   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

If there is a meaningless stat, this is it. Have the top 20 guys all fly the same plane. Any plane. watch what happens to the stats.
