...oops, sorry, I hadn't heard this position postulated in a while, must have been at least a whole week
-
I think Mandoble and Darkglam have them all tied up with the "Perk the N1k/Spit" thread. They should be here shortly.
-
First you have to mention "UFO" and "Hispanos"...
-
Don't forget "TurboLASERS!!!!" :p
-
Perk the 202.
-
YEAH the EVIL 202~!!!!!!!!
PERK IT!!!!!!

C-47
It's green
The terrain is green.
For the love of god do I have to spell it out! It is blatant cheating! Too hard to see when they fly low past d 3.5.
-
PERK the La7, N1K, Spit, 2 points each!
-
La7
Spit IX
N1K2-J
190D9
P51D
109G10
(Typhoon?)
1-2 perk could be ok. Lets try it tour or two and lets see how it works.
:)

Yeah perk the 202! Its Invisible plane from hell... Everyone ignores it until he has one d200 on his 6 and after 5 seconds of constant pinging hes spiraling down missing something... These ppl are sooo surprised :)

I keep saying it maybe someday someone will try it.
Take top 10 killers for each tour & perk em.
Put the perk's required as a slideing scale.
#1 at 10 perks, #10 at 1 perk.
My guess is after about 3 months it would get fairly stable.
262, tempest, spit 14 P51D La7 would all be perked.
-
Ghosth, top 10 based on numbers of kills or on kill ratio? The reason I ask is that you would get considerably different results from either of these measures.
Perking based on total number of kills would be roughly the same a perking based on usage. By this standard, the 262 would not (probably) not be perked even if free. (Anecdotal evidence: During my Warbirds days, the 262 was not flown that much even when available. Poor shots had a hard time getting kills in it, good shots quickly became bored with it.)
Perking based on the kill ration would end up with the Ki-61 (which tends to have about a 1.4:1 ratio) perked in the top ten. (Based on the monthly full tour stats posting.)
So which method would you use to work out the top 10? Or is there another method that would give consistent results?
For conversation, here are the top 10 "monsters" for last tour using these two methods:
Top 10 (in decending order) by kills:
1: Spit 9
2: NIK2
3: P-51D
4: La-7
5: F6F-5
6: Typhoon
7: P-38L
8: F4U-1D
9: Spit V
10: F4U-1D
Top 10 (in decending order) by ratio:
1: 262
2: Tempest
3: F4U-1C
4: F4U-4
5: Ta 152H
6: Ki-61
7: Spit 14
8: 190A-5
9: 190D-9
10: P-47D-11
Note: All lists above ignore GV's, PT's, gunners and chutes.

Better yet, perk the player...the higher ranking you are, certain planes are perked to you but not to lower ranked players. Want to hear whining? Do this and watch! ;) Consider it a "Golf Handicap" of sorts.

Do this and with the time I have for AH these days I would have everything free. But ppl like Fariz would have to pay perks even for loging into the arena :D eee :p

Interesting concept rip!
HFmudd I was thinking by kills.
Never thought of by ratio. Maybe both then devide?
The first month that the tempest and 262 are free their activity will go way up. But IMO they would balance.
I agree with most of the perk system, just think its overpriced. How long would it take an average pilot in a spit 14 to make enough perks to replace it? If your half good you should have at least 50/50 odds of makeing enough perk points in a perk plane to replace it if lost.
-
Brother Ghost... You'd want an arena where the Me262 is in the top 10 in kills? *shivers* that's a scary thought...
-
Ghosth is looking at this, I think, with an economists point of view. Let the market dicate the price. Since supply is infinite, the supply and demand would be impacted by a ratio of use and kills. I actually like the idea, but it would take quite a while (I think) to come to some equilibrium on prices and in the meantime, things could get ugly.

That's why I think the player's fighter rank should have an impact on perks earned or received by the other player. Shoot down a player who is in a category better than you and you earn a slight perk modifier and thus more perks...and shoot down an easy newbie and your perks are decreased some amount. However, when the newbie gets a kill, he'll earn at a greater rate of perks and I think all this too will equilibrate so that the poor-middle players will have just as much access to an ME262 as the middle-excellent players.

No, they wouldn't, not even close. Worse, a few guys would attempt to get the Tempest perked again, explaining how it is superior in every way to the 262...
...how's that argument go again? "It is easier to get a kill in a Tempest because it takes so long to set up a run in a 262", thereby explaining why someone in an unterjet is so much more skilled than the unter pilot in an unter prop plane... or something like that....
