Amelié? Haven't heard of it.. what's it about? And I don't understand the "and so will teh w1f3" part.
As for 2001... I have to say I found it too boring to put high on the list of priorities. I'll add it someday.. but I have to stumble across it at a decent price first.

At least you have Dumb and Dumber and This is Spinal Tap.
Btw, just what is "Zoolander : Collectors Edition?" I mean the collectors part is unintentionally funnier than the whole movie itself.

Its not available now, only for preorder. You'll be surprised how much you will like this French movie.
Also, are you gonna buy Lord of the Rings: FOTR soon, or wait for the other DVD with more features?

I was going to watch it today... I'd bought so many that I haven't seen yet that I was getting a little backlogged. Plus, I was waiting for yesterday when the new 38" widescreen showed up. :DOriginally posted by Creamo

The Cable Guy: I'll add it when I find it at a good price. This one and "Me, Myself and Irene" are pretty much in the same boat. I do think the dinner scene where they were "jousting" was perhaps one of the funnies Jim Carey has ever done.
Kalifornia: Dunno if I've ever seen this movie. What's it about?
The King of Comedy: Probably pass on this one.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest: I'll get it some day... in spite of the fact that its a Kupric (sp?) film. This, Clockwork Orange and FMJ will make it in.
Pantera: 3 Vulgar Videos from Hell: Never heard of it. What's it about? BTW.. you may be confusing my collection with SOB's ;)
Rush: Chronicals Video Collection: I buy all of Rush's CDs. I can't think of a single reason I'd want to buy a DvD that has them on it. Unless, that is, this DvD has some really cool scenes that don't inlvolve the band?
Das Boot: Some day this will be added too.Originally posted by Animal

Thanks for the clarification... my l337 speak has never been all that great. And definately a thanks for the pointer... the wifey got all gooey just reading the review on that one. Which FDB did you watch it with?
I'll get Lord of the Rings as soon as its released... regardless of special features. I cannot wait to get this one on the new system and rumble the walls.
And.. I thought we had Best in Show... guess I'll have to pick that one up too. Sometimes I forget to get the ones I've seen in the Theater... get's kinda confusing keep track.
BTW... I rate "Behind Enemy Lines" as one of the worst purchases in that last group. I challenge anyone to find one redeaming value... or one technical accuracy in that film.

Fatty.
Under that macho, hard shell, lies a very sensitive human being.

I see a couple mentions of Chasing Amy, an excellant movie in my opinion, though Jason Binks overacts like in every other movie he is in (see Almost Famous for another example).
Where is "In Harms Way" on those lists?? A great John Wayne war movie!n And Apocalypse Now?!

no DVD collection will ever be complete without "Das boot".
and its missing in your list ;)

CABLE GUY-
Well, most people either love or hate Cable Guy. I’ve watched it like 25 times and each time find some little thing that guy does. It’s a great performance. Me myself and Irene was good in the theater because the audience made it fun, but I fell asleep on the rental. Cable Guy is on sale at Wally World btw.
KALIFORNIA-
is Brad Pitt as a serial killer. Great flick, he’s a mean sum-squeak.
THE KING OF COMEDY-
isn’t actually on DVD yet, it’s just such a great movie I threw it in.
PANTERA 3
- is three videos of their tours. Live shows, actual videos, and tons of backstage type footage as they just carry a camcorder around. Typical rock tour stuff (tits, ass, drinking) but no one does it like Pantera. You’d hate it I assume, even more than Mr.Fish would with his hoopty Arlo Guthery something fellow acoustic crap, heh.
RUSH CHRONICALS-
Why would you want the Rush DVD?! For one, The Trees is way better when the boys are in wacky long 70’s priest robes and a smokey stage on yer bigscreen. And, not only can you watch them play songs which is interesting for musicians, you forget just how many bad haircuts they have had. Fortunately Alex went bald.
You should see if The Big Red One is on dvd yet.
-
You should see if The Big Red One is on dvd yet
I've been keeping an eye out for this one in the local stores.. haven't seen it yet.
And... I'm not a musician... and have already seen Rush in concert a couple of times... and love "The Trees" (did they still lead into it with "broonsbain"?)... but I still get the feeling I'd be cringing most of the way through the "visual" experience.

I see you finally got The Thing on DVD. My favorite horror movie of all time. It still creeps me out twenty years later. Great choice!

I personally think it's crap. Russ made his name in it, but apart from some brooding and bit of the ultra-violence, its a pretty stupid film.
For great Australian films try:
Two Hands : starring Heath Ledger, Bryan Brown
Chopper: starring Eric Bana
The Hard Word: starring Guy Pierce, Rachel Griffiths, Joel Edgerton
my last 5 DVD's (261 titles):
Tigerland
RoboCop SE
Predator SE
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Box Set: Season 4
Blackhawk Down

He also had me watch Bad Boy Bubby once...which had it's moments, but was hardly a great film. (Although everytime I see a cat now I will point at it and say "Cat don't breath".)

Curval Romper Stomper is an absolute must..
The anarchy of the movie is refreshing if you're used to hollycrap.
You'll never look at Russel Crowe the same again.. :)
I saw R-S years before he came to hollywood, wasn't surprised that he made it to there.
I prefer non-hollywood movies, you can find absolute pearls from there made by people before they're 'made.'
Look up for Accion Mutante and Ebola Syndrome too ;)
-
Romper Stomper is pretty brutal... a good film, but you aren't going to feel good after watching it. It's disturbing.
Has some good one liners though:
Why are you here?
We've come to wreck everything and ruin your life.
-
I thought Romper Stomper was pretty decent. The music blended well with the rage throughout the film. I'd give it a B.

20? That movie (Starring James Arness as the Thing) is almost 50 years old!
I know I know, New version made later!

I picked up Dark Blue World today, but probably won't get to watch it until tomorrow.
I've been waiting for this one!
-
I love "Dark Blue World", but "Behind teh Enemy Lines" was one of the stupidest movies I've ever saw.
-
C'mon what's wrong with "Behind Enemy Lines"????
It was sooooooooo realistic when the two-star hovered his Huey 100 yards from a platoon of BMPs and BTRs and destroyed him with his miniguns while they couldn't hit him once.
-
The whole movie is a screaming example of a realistic, non-biased and in no way propaganda related military movie.
Absolutely one of the best work that ever has come out right after any war.
I think it scored 1 star of 5 in the reviews I've seen and that was because it had good action.

I liked Bad Boy Bubby, it was totally out there at times.
Romper had its moments too, but it was just about the violence. Jacqueline Mackenzie was good, but I thought Romper was a waste of energy, I'd been there done that with Suburbia and Quadrophenia
I picked up Dark Blue World today, but probably won't get to watch it until tomorrow.
I've got Dark Blue World coming hopefully will arrive next week.

The more I watch BlackHawk Down, the more I appreciate movies like this over others like "Behind Enemy Lines". Black Hawk is sensational through the surround sound system ,ahhhh if only it had a DTS soundtrack.

BlackHawk Down will definately be added to the collection... though I don't know that one can truly "enjoy" watching it. One thing is for sure... it will put the sound system to the test.
By far and away, this is one of the most realistic (seemingly) combat movies I've ever seen. Probably a bit more realistic than most care to see.

I gotta say, I was a little let down with Dark Blue World... there were only what, four, maybe five flying scenes? That kid got shot up/down in all of them... An interesting picture, and I enjoyed it, I was just expecting more.
Guess I'll have to spring for the Piece of Cake DVDs.
-
My DVD collection just past 160. what system you guys watching them on and sound?
I got the 5:1 digital ( fiber optics) JBL's and Tower kenwoods.
Hitachi wide screen HDTV.
I have some older Sansui speakers 20 years old, they still kick bellybutton but i'm afraid the stress will pop them.
I'm not sure what makes a movie better, the picture quality or the sound quality, sofar I would lean to the sound.
all i know, when I play Saving Private Ryan, theres chips on the wall after the movie is over:)

Man would HDTV be nice for the NFL season ticket this year. You suck. Course the Hilton is tough to beat for sports, but the cabs get pricey. Games still must look awesome on that.
Btw, forgot a classic you must own.
Glen Gary Glen Ross.
Saw it again last night. Al Pacino ripping Kevin Spacey makes the best flames here seem like pillow talk and ear nibbling.
One of the strongest casts and performances ever.

Yeppers... I can't wait. The downside would be if they didn't do any kind of widescreen format and I had to sacrifice cutting the top/bottom off to get a bigger picture.Btw, forgot a classic you must own.

This falls into my "movies about lawyers and realtors" category. Basically, I'd rather have a root canal. The only redeaming "about a lawyer" movie I can think of is where Harrison Ford plays a lawyer that gets shot in the head. Realtors fall into the same loathing category for me.

Some of you guys may want to look into NetFlix (http://www.netflix.com) .
I use to buy all my DVD's because I HATED bringing movies back to the video store. I then discovered Netflix mail DVD rentals. You can have three rented movies in your possesion at one time for $19.95/month. You can pay more/less for more/less movies you are allowed to have at one time. The way it works is you select movies and put them in your Queue. (They have one of the largest selections available) As you return a movie they will send you the next one on the list. Best of all you can keep the DVD as long as you want. NO stinkin' late fees. They mail you the DVD in a little packet. To return the movie just put it back in packet, seal it and drop it in the mailbox. Postage is pre-paid. I burn through about 10 movies a month so it's a heck of a lot cheaper then buying or renting them. Also being in CA the turn-around time on sending back and receiving a new DVD is only two days. I think they still have a free months trial so I highly recommend giving them a try.
Oh, and for a funny/quirky movie check out Bubble Boy. :D

I really don't know JB. I turned it off when I found out he survived the shot to the head.
And I heard Annet Benning is going to play Hillary Clinton in a "Clintons" movie. Seems like they cast it well... SOB is playing Monica Lewinski (after he gets a breast reduction).
