Piper Enforcer....
A modified P-51 with a turbo-prop.  There is still one over at Wright-Pat in the AF museums annex building.

If I'm not mistaken, that plane was designed to be a Counter-Insurgency specialist and was being pushed as a cheap alternative for less-developed countries in South America and Africa that didn't want to spend the money on the Cessna Dragonfly or other jet aircraft.  It was conceived after or during the Korean UN police action but before the Vietnam conflict, if I'm not mistaken.

I guess it kind of stands as a testament to the excellent design that came out of the North American shop during Dubya Dubya Two.
