I was thinking: The only way for someone to attack a formation of B17 by himself is to come with a formation of B26s behind them and blast away with the 6 .50s in the nose.:)

With the proper model of A-26, a 3 plane formation could put together 42 foward firing .50s...and then there was the B-25 with the 75mm in the nose...i wonder who would win in a HO between those two.

I have attacked a formation of 3 B17's with 1 TA-152. and got all three.
Start from 3-5k alt advantage, and attack at 2-4 oclock 8-10 oclock angles, from above. Don't come in straight, but sweep past and exit. Aim for wing roots or stabilizer. Extend and climb out of gun range, about 2k. Turn and repeat. Dont try to kill the buff in one pass, two passes like this will take down any buff.
I also took down a lancaster yesterday near A5 at about 17K the same way.

Yo forgot to mention the 17's pilots were afk having a beer at the local pub :P I was shot down by 17's 8 times last tour, all 8 of them i was stupid and rushed the attack. If you set it up correctly there is nothing they can do to defend against you. I come in from a high 12 usually 4-5k higher and dive in aiming for a wingroot. Works great in spits but in Fw's a little trickier with no forward vision whatsoever :)

Attacking a bomber alone in World War II was considered suicidal. You had 10 or more guns pointed at you so it was a dangerous risk you took enganging any bomber.
In AH, we can't always attack a bomber with 10 of our buddies so there's some strategies you can use.
A) Always gun in and fly out. Don't stay around the bomber for long.
B) Dive in from the top on any bomber so it can't train more than 1 gun at you.
C) Find a part of a bomber where there are no guns. (For IE, the 26 and Lanc have no belly guns).
D) Go for the planes engines, taking a wing or engine can decrease the time you have to stick around with the bomber.
E) ALWAYS run if you can't stay and attack. Running isn't cowardly if you have a meaning of doing it.
:) Hope that helps.
