Just one thing.... don't hit 'o' to quickly if you are high up.  Wait until you are low enough (you may be able to see what appear to be bubbles on the ground or water), and then hit it..... otherwise you will be floating down slowly and might as well have a target on your chute.  If you do open the chute too early, the only way out if you don't want to wait is to alt-F4, which will disconnect you altogether.  :)
