Title: A low smoking plane over the water, headed home...
Post by: poopster on June 03, 2002, 09:01:33 PM
You've been there..

Headed in to a coastal base, mixing it up..

Shot down one or two..

Inbound high cons changed the makeup to one of survival, yankin and bankin you kill another...

You get hit, part of your wing isn't there, your smokin, and somehow...

You hit the deck......and sneak away......

Your on the water, your fuel is on fumes, oil is about in the red, and you see your base coming up out of the haze....

These thoughts flash through my mind...

When I drop on his six....

AND BLOW HIS bellybutton AWAY !!!!

BRUHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!!!!

This ain't kiddy games...

THIS IS WAR !!!!!

Hehehe.....i love these sort of kills.  Sometimes nothing is better than being eeeevil.:)

I shotup an la7 the other day, he was leaking oil, fuel and lost an aileron.  He ran away towards his base, but i wasn't gonna let this one get away from me.  After a couple of mins chasing this la7 i lost sight, however i conintued towards that direction.  When i finally arrived i found the la7 i had shotup earlier with gear down attempting to make a landing......

Muahahah........:D

I only finish them off if I smoked them.  If not I let them go.  Not judging anyone.

The only thing that can make it better is totally being blow away by the ack.

edit: Hallmark should have a card, "Nothing says, 'I want you fediddleng dead!!', like..."

Funny thing: 190A-8, smoking, wingtip missing, running home on the deck, staying as fast as it can. A Lame-7 comes from his 12 o'clock, dives for a HO. A-8 fires, his only chance is to gamble.

Lame-7 loses wingtip and crashes into the ground. A-8 just smokes a little more but still flies. A-8 pilot unsquelches channel one and gloats ;).

Don't perk the Lame-7 !

Just as funny as when you posted it on AGW a year or two ago. :)

yeah it may be war, but it's not Real War, shooting down a "smoker" trying to RTB only puts him in a shiny new ride faster. :D

But I admit, I've done it once or twice and it depends on the AC and if someone has done it to me recently ;)

Hmm, must have been some other super pilot ;).

Never posted at AGW except some JG54 issues, and the mentioned incident happened this spring.

I find it best when you don't even shoot at them in their damaged condition.  If there is no-one else around I will "play" with a con...like a cat plays with a mouse.  Nothing gives me greater pleasure than buzzing a damaged plane who tries to turn, loses it and crashes.  If I don't get the kill...so be it.

Oh man, where is you sense of sportsmanship and honor guys?  These fellows are helpless and attempting to a avoid a death.  To hunt them down when it is all they can do to keep it in the air is just wrong.

At least that is what goes through my head first, then I think, "All heck, points is points..."

But I only use MG's. ;)

Read a very interesting real life account of this sort of thing here (http://www.cradleofaviation.org/history/aircraft/p-47/5.html).

I never shoot down a wounded plane....I believe in chivalry and nobility among adversaries.

I have to agree as I've been shot down on occasion after I've almost nursed my a/c home to be shot down by some low lifer just wanting to get the points.. thats fine shoot me down after I've fought to get the a/c stable again.. I'll just hunt you down and return the favor.

But I think we are all gents here and we should show kind of respect for a wounded a/c and it's pilot trying in vain to make it back home.

Just a thought..

I'm with Rude on this one. I will back off on any landing plane. Now if he's taking off, well, ....dedmeat!

lol...ahh yes, take the moral high-ground why don't ya?

It is fine to shoot a low and slow guy just taking off...but kill some guy who was just trying to kill you, and all your fellow countrymen and who just manged to limp away and you are somehow unchivalrous.

Gimme a break..all is fair in love and WAR.

As far as killing a wounded bird in real life WW2 went...I would imagine that it would have been considered almost treasonous to let him go.  Afterall...if you didn't he could well have killed you, or your buddy, the next day.

Speak fer yerself, I'm no gentleman in this game
On the other hand, I open doors for women and old folks and always use my manners in public places. But something in here brings out the knuckle draggin, vulching, chute killin villain pent up inside me....

Sheesh maybe I know its not real life?

i'll go for a wounded bird if the oppt'y presents itself and it doesn't seem too  much of a waste... if i get an assist, all is well, i helped someone get a kill that he might not have, if i get the kill, even better.

landing's overrated anyway.

If it has a red icon, and if it is flying, is capable of flying, rolling, floating or even breaking wind... It dies. If it's wounded, it dies with less effort. Courtesy? Kindness? Tell ya what, give your teammates a timely and needed "check 6" to fulfill those noble urges.

My regards,

Widewing
