I assure you, I wasn't offcourse. I couldn't have been. You see of course, because I was chasing him.

Weave...

Who's the dweeb?
The one who flys that high and augers - or the one who chases him around for 20 minutes and watches him auguer? :p

when you manage to get a screenshot of 250 bish airplanes at 32 k you may start a thread with the inquiry:

"The bish are alt monkeys?"

Till that day arrives, a more appropriate thread title for this thread might be:

"Since i couldn't find anything more entertaining to do tonight, i wasted an hour and a half chasin a newbie in a sputnick..."

Well, he wasn't a newbie, and till you get close enough he's just a spec in the sky, and a dot on dar. Usually folks that high are Lancastors. I will chase high buffs. Grabbing a bunch of alt with a buff will not make you immune to attack from me.;) Die to em a bunch, but I've tagged a few too.

You will rarely see me above 18k in anything, unless I'm chasing something. I prefer to let the really high guys come to me. :D

How does 20 minutes turn into an hour and a half?

I'll just file this guy in the same catagory as those who auger their goon when they run into an enemy fighter.

My guess was that the guy was called away from the computer by his wife or kids and the plane just kept going. After a certain point with autoclimb shift-x it will stall out and down he'll go. If this is what happened, I find it very funny you chased him up.

What a waste of time.

Alt monkey?  What, he is supposed to attack from BELOW all the time?

Get real people.  It is good judgement to attack from above.  Don't you know even the BASICS of air-to-air combat?

Back near the end of AW when a good night in FR was a dozen people, I was tooling around in the pac arena doing some dogfighting and there was this F6F at 25k and climbing, just flying in a straight line.  I thought maybe he was climbing to set up a long, shallow, high-speed attack on something so I went after him.  He just kept going up, up, up.  Eventually I decided to go find different prey and he flew off into an unoccupied sector of the map.

A bit later, he comes on the radio and explains that he had just upped from his base and set the autopilot for auto-climb when the fire alarm went off at his station.  He was a fireman, on call, and killing time by doing some flying online.  The alarm went off, he grabbed his gear, went to the call, it was a false alarm, he returned, and found that his Hellcat was still climbing in a lonesome part of the theatre.

He had a very long and uneventful flight back.  :)

Okay I admit it, I am an alt monkey!!!! I have no defense other then to say, It' was Ammo's fault!!! He came around with this nice shiny new Jug and tempted me. He offered me a free ride in the damned thing, of course the first one is always free. Then after he hooked me he told me about the high alt performance of this fancy new bird. I took it up to 30K and discovered that I was in love, well it was either love or hypoxia. I also discovered that while at 30K my refreshments, mostly gin with a splash of vermouth and two olives, stayed nice and frosty.

So yes gentleman, I am an alt monkey. I'm sorry, but it's just that I'm hooked. A poor bastard with a monkey (pun intended) on his back. I keep looking for a 12 step program to help me out but I can only find those that offer 2, 5, 7, and 9 step programs. I found one as well with a 14 step program but it cost to much. So the next time you see a Jug all alone above you, and it comes down like a dweeby alt monkey and shreds your kite, remember that it is not my fault. I'm just a junky, a poor bastard that was seduced by the Jug. BLAME AMMO!!!!!!:D

So ... did you learn anything from your experience?

If you did then it wasn't wasted time.
