I've often seen 200ft been mentioned as max alt for under dar raids. Always thought it was 500ft, and I'm sure not to create a dar bar counter there.
Any truth in 200ft? e.g. reduced field flash warning or something?

There is no radar or darbar if you are less than 500ft above ground level. However, the flashing "Field under attack" warning will be activated even if you don't show on radar. :)

Below 500 ft, no dot dar but bar dar show ups.
Below 200 ft no dot or bar dar as Flossy says. Or is it below 150 ft? I don't remember.

Thanks. No doubt all radar altitudes are GND not SEA.
dtango, I am sure that 500 ft GND is max alt for no dar bar. that's what hitech wrote in all those threads 1 month ago before it was fixed and finally worked. it's what i've seen in the MA. most important point, flossy wrote it's 500 AGL. if there's any change of warning behaviour at 200 ft GND it's not the dar bar.
GVs seem to be able to get closer to fields before they trigger the field flashing. how low do ac have to get to be able to get that close?
What does disable the flashing? I've seen nme aircraft over our fields and no flashing. radar was down at that field and maybe country radar too (rooks country radar seems to fail often ;) ). Does it also disable the flashing or does something else have to be down, or is it a bug or was it just net lag?

The distance at which vehicles and aircraft trigger the field flashing depends on how they have been set up in the Arena Settings.... there are different variables for Bombers, Fighters, Ground Vehicles and Boats, so the fields flashing will depend on what triggers them first. I don't know offhand what the settings are in the MA.What does disable the flashing? I've seen nme aircraft over our fields and no flashing.
I'm not sure why this happens; I am still very much in the learning process with arena settings, but suspect it may be linked in with the local field radar. I would guess that if that is down, then the field warnings would not be triggered. However, I am sure someone more experienced will clarify the situation. :)

I have flown missions with my squad, where they see a field flashing and I don't ... could be a bug.

I'm pretty sure I've seen dar bar triggered by ground vehicles.
The reason I make this assumption is that the bar magically disappears when the gv is waxed, and re-appears when a new one is observed to spawn.
But how can this be if the threshold is 500ft AGL?

Until very recently ground vehicles did show on the bar dar; however, they were never supposed to and it was only after HiTech checked into it, following comments here in the forums, that it was corrected.

I've flown several NOE attacks with my squad. Pretty sure the dar bar is set to 500' AGL (which is of course the same as ASL when over water).

200 is better to say.
Tell a dozenpeople to stay under 200 feet, and some idiot sit at 201.
This way, even if it IS 500, those people still stay under radar. :P

LOL! Quite a few people come from AW where it was 200 ft, so most of them will tend to fly that low anyway. Of course flying under 200 ft in AW, with it's flat terrains, was simply a matter of pointing in the right direction and setting auto-pilot.... :D

Do hills change that? I've always gotten the impression (from first hand observation) that if a plane flies into a ravine, it will be lost to dar even if it is more than 500' above the floor of the ravine.
How is the icon affected by altitude/terrain?

Pretty sure that terrain radar masking is not modeled. Purely a 500' AGL thing.

Terrain and clouds disrupting radar would be a very neat addition.
