Title: Your vote for most memorable callsign?
Post by: Wanker on June 07, 2002, 01:44:12 PM
Over the eleven or so years that I've been playing flight sims, I've come across some really clever and funny callsigns. But my favorite one was some guy in "Flying Circus" who flew a Fokker DR.1 and went by the callsign of "Slick_Willhelm".

Hehe, still cracks me up to this day whenever I think of that.

Which callsign gets your vote as "most memorable"?

Well, it isn't a flight sim but I was playing Jedi Knight 2: JO the other night against some guys named Johnny GoldenBoots, the ManRammer, and RudeMan. I was playing as Tasty Umbilical.

It simply doesn't get much weirder than that ....

Back in the Beta days of AH the server would show who was killed by whom.

...and there was a guy named "himself"

So whenever he was shot down the server would say something like:

SERVER: banana shot down himself.

I laughed every dang time.

Followed by AKWrong...when he was Wrongto, I always thought it was wrong toe, in referance to some sort of amputation mishap until I actually asked him a while back, cracked me up every time I saw it.

Well, I can honestly says yours is!  I will never forget my first scenario experience here when I walked on to Hostile Shores.  Not really sure what I was doing, I asked for help and was told to see you.... unfortunately, the way it was worded - combined with the fact I didn't realise "banana" was your GameID - made me think I was being called a banana.  I think my reply to the effect of, "there is no need to call me names" caused a few laughs anyway....  :p
Title: Bond
Post by: gofaster on June 07, 2002, 02:24:15 PM
There was a guy who flew by the CPID Bond in Air Warrior.  He had a macro for every kill he got that said "You have been shaken, not stirred!"

Another one I liked was the handle TheGrocer with CPID Grocr.  His macro: "Our special today: a half-pound of whupass!"

Probably the funniest based-on-a-true-virtual-experience handle that I came across was "RunsFromDrones" because the first time he went on a combat patrol, he spotted a dot coming at him from co-alt and he reversed course to gain alt and prep for the dogfight.  As he turned to engage the enemy, he realized that he had run from an unarmed C-47 supply ship drone.  His CPID: "Runny".  He's still flying here in Aces High by the same handle.  And now you know....the rest of the story!

noodle, in Warbirds.

One day when noodle was new to the game, he was doing the typical "Thats roadkillt!" blah blah blah, going off at everyone...so I said "Whats wrong noodle, bad day at the orifice?"  Most recorded LOL's on a text buffer in online history that day. :D

Ive seen many great callsigns but many times more terrible unmemorable ones.

Several months back I was corraled and hurrahed by a fella
went with the callsign "EatMyBag"......That callsign made me laugh and visualize my own vomit as well.  Thats the one I remember most presntly.  I suspect that puts it up there with the "best"

Personally, I like mine becuase it can be a verb or a noun...
Quote

fork   Pronunciation Key  (fôrk)
n.
A utensil with two or more prongs, used for eating or serving food.
An implement with two or more prongs used for raising, carrying, piercing, or digging.
A bifurcation or separation into two or more branches or parts.
The point at which such a bifurcation or separation occurs: a fork in a road.
One of the branches of such a bifurcation or separation: the right fork. See Synonyms at branch.
Games. An attack by one chess piece on two pieces at the same time.

v. forked, fork·ing, forks
v. tr.
To raise, carry, pitch, or pierce with a fork.
To give the shape of a fork to (one's fingers, for example).
Games. To launch an attack on (two chess pieces).
Informal. To pay. Used with over, out, or up: forked over $80 for front-row seats; forked up the money owed.

v. intr.
To divide into two or more branches: The river forks here.

To use a fork, as in working.
To turn at or travel along a fork.

Or some my favorite uses...

"Fork you!"

"You've been forked."

"Man, you forked that move."

"Who is the forker in the La-7?"

:D

In Aces High, I think the best two that I have seen are MeatWad and DogFart.

The best outside AH I have seen was this guy I saw when I was playing JK2.  He was using the Lando skin, and his name was Colt45.

I think most folks don't get "0osik".

It is an Inuit word for the noodle bone of a walrus.
It's surprisingly large, and is as nearly sought after as are walrus tusks.  Both are used for scrimshaw carving.

Not sure exactly what you mean - only difference I can see is your quote isn't in bold....  Do you use Reply or Quote?  If you use Quote, all the text is there for you and all you have to do is add your bit.  However, I often snip out most of the text and only leave the part I am directly replying to.  You will notice that there are square brackets with [ QUOTE ] and [ B ] (without the spaces) at the beginning of the quoted text, and [ /B ] and [ /QUOTE ] at the end.  Providing you make sure your quoted text has these at each end, you will get the text quoted in bold type.

Not sure what you me by a continuous line?  Unless you mean all the lines are wrapped - the only time you need to insert a return is if you want to start a new line or paragraph.... otherwise, just type continously without worrying about formatting - this BBS program does it all for you!  :)
s are HTML codes, but this BBS uses vB code (see "Forum Rules" under editing window on the left, just before Topic Review).  Hope this helps.  :D

Heya ripsnort, I'll do that.

He's doing very well. He has been ordained and is some kind of director for his church's missionary work. He goes to Africa twice a year and then travels the US the rest of the year. Needless to say I hardly see him now, but he is doing what he feels is right so I support him in that.

One of the ones I remember was Gunman26. I remeber the day when hey came back on his second 2 week trial and he was Gunman42. When asked why he was Gunman42 he said it was because 2 x 26 equals 42. It took oven an hour and 100 MA players to convince him that 2 x 26 does not equal 42. He was quite upset when he found that out. To this day I still laugh about that one. :)

Thats still not as funny as many tours ago, don't even remember which one, ripsnort has this huge GV mission going. I mean there are tons of us in GV's...and one B26 rolling right along with us.

Lol, remember that one? Bet ya do :) Only difference was you were doing it on purpose. LMAO.

Note: I think that was you with you're old handle. If not, color me stupid. Still was funny.

LOL  Apache, I think I remember that one. Rip had started a huge GV mission, but I missed it by 4 or 5 mins and had no chance of catching up. So I rolled a B26...landed...and "Drove" along with the huge force of Panzers and other GVs. Many people laughed to see 10-15 panzers, several Flaks and M16s...1 or 2 M3s and this lone B26 rolling onto a field. :D

Also my orignal name is Beefcake, however, I left the game for several months and couldn't get the name again. (or at least I thought I couldn't) So I went from Beefcake to Porkcake, the other white meat. After months of flying I left for awhile again. But when I came back again, I mailed HTC and they got my old name back. :)

In WBs there was once a new pilot by the name of dldo, (long story)...anyway there also happened to be a WBs pilot by the name of Girl and a pretty good stick was she. It took him awhile to do it but finally the message appeared, Kill of Girl by dldo.

LOL, I remember the first time I met him at one of the WB conventions.  I don't think anyone called him "You Die" the entire weekend.

In AW3 there was Emeril...his kill macro was, "BAM! You've been cooked!"

I always thought that was clever.
