GVs are super easy to spot from the air, why then must they have a fricken neon billboard over them? There's no terrain to take cover on, tree clutter only helps the person attacking the GV because them trees dont pop up on his FE until he gets really close, so gv cant take neither visual cover nor cover from enemy fire in a forest, BUT the plane DOES receive the cover of the trees. Thats just wrong imo.
Remove the icons on GV's until a permanent ground cover is put in the game please.

Agreed.

I aggree. But give them dust trails when they move...

Amen!

Unless when it's raining. Make them move half their speed then ;)

"...why then must they have a fricken neon billboard over them?"
So that you can tell if you're about to killshooter yourself?
-
LOL. Ok, ENEMY gvs then. ;)

agreed!!

Probably millions or reasons why not, but I'd be in favour of no Aircraft Icons for enemy planes when in a GV as well.

No icons for any nme at all! :D
-
id be for that too ccvi, but "gameplay" requires icons so people can play this game. And besides, an airplane can manouver and defend itself, a GV cant manouver vs an airplane and its defense is nill except if you in a flaktank ;)
-
In a secondary arena of the third incarnation of "another" game there was a time when there were no nme icons, very short ranged friendly icons (d200 or something) and no in-flight radar. Main arena (or whatever it is called "over there") was empty those days.
-
Agreed.
I always thought it strange that you have no icon on an enemy tank from another tank, but you do from an airplane.

No Icons for tanks??... I don't find them that hard to get a few kills in, I can usuelly get about 2-3 kills in main turrent and when thats dead i can sometimes get a kill or 2 in back up guns/hull gun... Would be interesting if there were no enemy icons though...
Would make an interesting night fight! lol
I remember 1 time in the H2H we played a game, Icons off night time, only way you could see the enemy was if he was firing, crashing or raming into u lol.

?? I keep hearing about rain and stuff, do they have weather in Main Arena???
-
There sometimes is some dark cloud cover over some parts of the MA. I think it's safe to assume that ground below those clouds is wet. Just can't see the rain.
-
Make it so GVs can't see plane icons.
-
Hey funked, are you deliberately missing the point?
-
adding to it one'd guess.
-
The problem being solved is that GVs have no cover. By all rights, GVs should be able to hide in trees once in a while.
Removing the GV icons is to partially make up for the lack of ground cover. Removing plane icons just sounds punitive.
-
GVs can hide behind trees. Icons are disabled when a GV isn't visible because there's a tree between aircraft and GV.
-
It sounded as though removing plane icons from GV view was complementary to disabling GV icons.
-
ccvi, that only holds true if the plane is in close proximity to the gv. aka, the plane's FE "pops up" the trees. If your M16 is inside a forest and an enemy plane at d4.0 makes a dive on you, the m16 will have its view AND guns blocked by the trees, but the enemy plane will be able to see you AND shoot you AND hit you, because on his FE there are no trees. Its only until the plane gets real close to the gv/ground that he gets the ground clutter pop up.
-
If the icons are removed from the GV's, which seems a good thing to me, would it be possible to add a small dust cloud (the standard GV smoke but light brown perhaps) for when they are moving?
-
Turn off the (enemy) GV icons when they are in the trees, to simulate forest cover. Turn off (enemy) GV icons when they are stopped for 2 (?) minutes, to simulate camouflage.
-
The same things that make it too easy for planes to see GVs also make it too easy for GVs to see planes. Cover works both ways.
-
I personally think that the way it's done now is a good compromise. The problem with removing ANY of the icons is that there is no chance for silhouette recognition. You can't tell what country the incoming plane (or GV) is associated with because every country can use any of the planes.
In the Combat theater, where each side is restricted to certain planes, that would be a fun thing to try. It would be hard, though because a bogey has to be pretty close in AH before the shape is discernable.
-
funked, there is NO "cover". You can see this by getting your Panzer in a clear field and shooting at an enemy panzer at mid-long range that's inside a forest and is hugging a tree (tree in between you and him). He cant shoot at your or see you because the tree blocks him, but YOU can see and shoot him (AND hit him) because in your FE there is no forest, no trees.
Deacon: As it works now, your vehicle will NOT shot enemy vehicle icons, but it will show friendly vehicle icons. The same should be applied to planes. You should see friendly gv icons but not enemy gv icons when you in a plane.
I wonder how much FPS hit AH would get if HTC added permanent treelines like those in WW2OL?
-
Perhaps there should be an alert that goes off whenever someone uses WWIIOL as an example of how to do something.
"Maybe we should blah blah blah, like in WWII Onlin-" (whoop! whoop! whoop!) SYSTEM> 'RED ALERT!'
-
LOL chairboy! True.
However, I KNOW Hitech and crew CAN deliver on their end. So if they ever do say "we'll put permanent ground cover" you can bet your bellybutton it will be there and work.
Although the terrain's dive flaps and damage model may be porked at the start ;) ;) :D

I think the last thing we need is more objects that will make the GVs have to drive further to get to their target. Not only that, if you accidentally bumped into the treeline, you'd blow up (like with the trees now).

WHILE we at it...WHY do we have to have fluff'n BROWN tanks on predominantly GREEN backgrounds? Could we have chance to pick color of GV b4 mission?
