Howdy

I'm new to AH, just came over from WB after 4 yrs.  AH really looks great and I really like all the nice features. But I've got a couple of questions.
First, is there anyway to minimize the gunshake when firing in a fighter, any fighter.? The combination of that and that crazy head bobble thing is killing my gunnery. Having a heck of a time getting and keeping a guns solution.
Btw I have force feedback for guns and weapons disabled so that should not be a problem.

Second, I'm using a MS Sidewinder FF joystick, the original version. Been tinkering with the settings some, but I'm still getting that"moving controls to rapidly" message and I'm struggling with the blackouts as well. Man I thought the blackouts in WB's were bad. lol

Any advice is appreciated. :)

Try setting the damper up for pitch & roll in your joystick settings. That should help solve the oversensitive & "don't move controls" msg.The "don't move controls so rapidly" is part of AH's stick stirring code. Should not happen if your joystick is setup right and your not just whanging that thing around.  Timeing is diff from Warbirds but you'll adjust to that fast enough.

Gunshake is a feature, try flying the Russian birds. La's have a pair of cannons so they tend to not get out of sync, Yak9U has a single 20mm. Get close, then get closer! You'll get used to it, just takes some time.

Personally I shoot better with tracers off, put crosshairs on target & slowly pull lead ahead of him till you see hits. Hold it there till he dies!

make sure the last stick scaling slider on each axis is at 100%, or you may encounter that "don't move your stick rapidly" message near/at full deflection, even with a non-spiky digital stick.

Great to see you here skyfox!  Another neat thing is the offline command ".target".  Type ".target 400" for example and a target appears 400 yards in front of your plane.  Type ".target 0" to clear it.  I came from WB also, and I used this to practise until I eliminated most of my shake.  It really paid dividends quickly.  Your mileage may vary ...

the .target command can be used online as well.

Use .target #### where ### is the range, u can change the range to see where your rounds are falling

Something not mentioned yet is where to map your gun switch.

I map mine to a switch on the throttle. Why? Because, hand motion on the throttle does not cause the joystick to move, which in turn, can cause "bobbing". If you have a separate throttle, try it. It helped my gunnery. All guns are mapped to throttle. Secondary guns are still mapped to trigger. This way I can isolate the guns on planes with mixed armament, such as the Yaks, Ki-61, 190s 109s and Spitfires. Likewise, you can fire just 4 guns on the P-47 using the trigger switch (usually enough), or cut loose with all 8 with the throttle switch. Adds some flexibility, extends usefull ammo load as well as reducing "bobbing".
