Title: That's it I give up!!!!
Post by: Udie on June 12, 2002, 09:45:43 AM
I don't know who to hate or like anymore in Washington.  The waters have finaly become to watered for me to use my limited intelect to figure it out.  All parties and all branches of government are effed up as far as I'm concerned.

One party seems to be after my pocket book and the other seems to be after my freedom.  I'm at the point where I'm about done with all of them.

With the people we have in Washington we are finished.   We are doomed to failure because of shortsighted politicians.................. ............................. .........................

I too am in Washington, but I'm sure you can find some good reasons to hate me on an indiviual level :)

But I would suggest that the fact that everyone is so assed up on one side or the other is exactly why democracy works. I posted this not long ago on another thread, but the lame left and the retard right fight it out, neither side fully believing what they say 100% of the time, but the hope is that when the dust clears, we end up somewhere in the middle. Limbaugh and Chomsky can both drown in a vat of acid for all I care, but I think they serve a purpose. Capitol Hill is essentially the same thing.

From "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", talking about the prohibition of doing a play in DC of the Three Wise Men visiting Jesus at Bethlehem (because there were many religions etc...):

"The true reason of the prohibition has been finally revealed... they can't actually find three wise men and a virgin!" :D

I'm like this...

I like truth.  I like to bargain on the facts at hand.  I don't like it when they make extreme statements and lie.  That seem to be the only type of debate.  Not just win the argument but how do you win the argument and permanently discredit your apponent.

In DC they fight a war of ideas with words instead of weapons.  What happens when all the words are false?  They take the one good weapon we have to debate stuff in a civil manner and they prostitute them with extreme over exagurations and out right lies.   They delegate their athority to burocrats with no accountablity.  Then they squeak when they think they don't have enough athority.  They use our money as a weapon to get us to the things that they think we should be doing.  They squander and waste our tax dollars and programs that do nothing but hire more burocrats and get them re-elected.

For instance my roommate and I were talking about nationalized healthcare last night. Both of us think it's a bad idea to socialize medicine.  I got to thinking though that they already take in enough cold hard cash to pay the insurance premiums on every American alive.  Yet if that were to ever happen you know they'd make a special new tax for it.  What happens to our cash in Washington?  How many BILLIONS do they take in every year?  I'd be willing to bet that they've got some fancy ways to make that money fall right into their pockets.   Tom Dashle has NEVER had a job,  NEVER.  What makes him qualified at all to know what it's like to live paycheck to paycheck?   I'm sure there are plenty of Republicans in office who never worked a day in thier lives either.  I singled out Dashle because he's the "latest" I heard never had a real job.

It's taken me 10 years to figure this out because for a brief moment in my early political life I saw a party run on a set of promises.  Then I saw them do exactly what they said they would do when they took office.   Then they were "school lunched" and a really big yellow streak apeared on their backs.  Since then it's been a steady chipping away of my "non-cynical" self.   As it stands now there are maybe 2 or 3 people in all of washington that I BAIRLY trust and that trust erodes further each day.

The worst part about it, and this is probably what pisses me off the most,  we are powerless to do anything about it and they continue ruining this great land of ours.  I don't think that what we have in Washington now is anything near what the founding fathers intended.

Who knows I'm probably just going through another manic/depressive episode.  So I'll probably be back bashing Tom Dashle again real soon.  I'm just venting I guess.  I have to do that here because you guys are the only ones that know I'm really insane :D

Hardly anything new Udie, the smear campaigns started with Jefferson vs Hamilton in Washington's cabinet (if you only start counting after the formation of the US govt).

There is a reason they call it the "Loser-tarian" party.  Wasted vote. Goes no where. Never will.  Might as well NOT vote rather than vote for a party that will NEVER win an election.

And let's not forget that the way to get the votes in the territories back in the 1800s was by providing enough alcohol. Run out of alcohol and watch the tide turn. Ahh, for simpler times.

Better to be a loser with principles than a winner with none, but some people just go through life jumping from "winner to winner" so they can feel good about themselves don't they?

When enough Americans get fed up with the status quo politics of the ratpublicans and democraps then things will change,  for the ones who are fed up. there is a party that advocates common sense and principles....

As a people, Americans will do nothing to stop the crap in DC.  We always talk a big story but when it comes down to acting it's always "let the other guy do it"

They will continue to take and foolishly use our money for their own needs.  I estimate billions of our $s is spent on personal congressmen needs.  Such as updates a new boat, fishing trip to Alaska, buying a mistress an apartment and new car, gambling in Vegas, townhouse in Rio, childrens college, and many, many others.

Most, if not all politician are crooks and swindlers.  The sooner you realize this the better off you'll be.

I put politicians on the same line as most lawyers and car salesmen.

Sorry Nimitz,  I did print "most"  :)

Defend the Constitution Udie. You wont go to far wrong.

Strangely it seems to always put you on the wrong side of what happens to be PC for the day. I put up with a lot of crap, for being a solider defending it, back in the sixties.  I've put up with the same sort of crap, for defending it in writing, here on this board.  But it is worth it.  It has a continuity that will survive whatever nitwit trend, happens to be fashionable at the time.

I generally agree but when these knuckleheads work together it usually hurts or subverts the constitution.

IMO both parties are about the same. There are the "real" issues, mostly involving campaign $$ that are then morphed into "voting" issues presented for party consumption in the form of a soap opera or WWF match.

Occasionally journalists point out the real issues, but they are complex (which the public doesn't like to spend time thinking about), and the journalist might lose precious access, so instead we hear the appropriate "voting" issues (from both sides just to be balanced of course) while the same old same old goes on behind the scenes like it has for 200 some years.

IMO, middle class whites are about as well served by the Republicans as minorities are served by the Democrats, and both parties work really hard to make sure their supports never catch on.

WTG easymo, BTW, my thoughs exactly.

It's not just politicians there, Udie. The media has slanted in favor of the Dem's for too long. In this last election, the most popular news services reported WAY too early on a Dem victory, and NOT because there was any evidence. But, CNN especially, always represented Clinton in a favorable light (hell, they still hunt his shadow dwelling, skulking bellybutton for an interview), and since the CEO of CNN is a personal friend of Clinton's it will not change anytime soon.

If you want to feel better, shoot/sell your TV and start listening to talk radio. It's dominated by Right minded people, and even O'Reilly can't get his foot in the door.

Oh, and your 2nd Amendment rights do not include the right to own a gun, especially not in order to overthrow a tyrannical government. That's not what the founding father's meant at all!

Forget the 'labels' Udie. Look at ISSUES...

Vote the issue, and the politician that best represents your stance on that issue and ignore 'party lines'.

Be a Conservalibrepublicrat.

So... watch TV if you want the view from the left. Listen to AM radio to get the right.

What? No objective reporting?

Exactly, but the trouble is that no one really represents my stance on issues.

In all my years of voting I was always voting "Oh, no! anything but this guy"
