Title: Tracer-less Panzer guns?
Post by: Urchin on June 16, 2002, 11:25:23 PM
Has this happened to anyone else?  I thought the main gun on the panzer would always leave a tracer, even if you turned tracers off.  Apparently, at least one person (MwDOODY I think his name was) doesn't have this problem.

Am I mistaken?  I went offline and turned tracers off, the main gun on the Panzer still had a tracer.  Is it like the mannable acks where you still see the tracers but nobody else does?

I seem to recall hearing that if the guy is over 3.2k away from you, no tracer. Have seen this a bunch too.

No.. the guy was less than 1600 yards away, had a perfect hull-down position.  All I could see was his turret.  Either there is something buggy with the panzer guns or he is a crack shot, the first hit took out my track on the right side (the side facing him), and the second hit killed me.  I don't know if he fired more than twice, I never saw any shots or heard any of the 'boom' that you hear when a shot hits near you.  Only heard two hits from a tank gun.  I know I fired about 6 times back at him between the first hit and the second hit, so I can only assume he was firing back.

FWIW, players shouldn't have any control over whether or not they have tracer in the PzIV.  It's not like a machinegun where you can make up your own belts from individual rounds of different types.

I know that the Tracers are visible on a Panzer at any range. Both from the gunners point of view and the opponent. I have tested it with other players. However, If you know how to shot at long range and have your target ranged its hard to see it coming 3K out! You can be VERY accurate in a GV.. if you know how to aim! :)

The 50 cal top and hull gun tracers can be turned off however!
