I think this plane is pretty nice for USSR! :)

I have read a book by a Russian fighter pilot who was very dismissive of the Hurricane IIBs they were sent. They didn't just replace the guns, they also fitted more armour and even then regarded the plane as only marginally acceptable for combat.

IIRC, the Russians didn't really consider the Spitfire or P-51 to be combat ready either.  The only lend lease aircraft they seemed to really like were the P-39 / P-63 series.

They said the only good thing bout the hurricane was the radio set...  :)

Some modern day comparison flights say the I16 is better than Hurricane....

That was also witnessed by finnish pilots..

They described spitfire and hurricane slow and extremely clumsy planes. Hurricane was easyest killed in a turnfight where it was at the mercy of the brewster pilots, one hit in the front section usually set the hurricane in fire, effectively burning the pilot.

Spitfire was a bad performer below 3km above which altitude it had superior charasteristics. That hardly applies to AH spits though :)

I think that part of the problem with the Russian Hurricanes and Spitfires was that they did not have the high-octane fuel which allowed high supercharger boost pressures to be used, so performance suffered.
