Nope, not leaving the BBS, nor am I leaving the game :D
The REAL BD-5, my airplane, was sold today!
I had a guy call from out of the blue asking if he could see it. He's 125 miles away and came up today. I've had no time or budget to work on the BD-5 and he offered me more than I paid for it, so what the hell...get it outta here! When I have more time, I'll start with another airplane!
But, this one will be a wee bigger and 2 seats.
I'm thinking one of these....

Heck, might have to change my Aces High nick now!

I was reading up on homebuilts a few years ago (when along came my second child and flushed any ideas I had away for retirement age) that something like 85% of kit planes or home builts never reach the air? Will that be your case or are ya going to (Jordon voice)just do it! ?

Well, that's a good point.
See you have people that...
1) Talk about getting a pilots license
2) Go thru the training, but never get the license
3) Get the license, but never fly
4) Talk about getting a kit but never do (costs, $$, etc)
5) Buy a kit, but lack the resources (time, money) to complete it
6) Complete the kit, fly, then build another
I'm at level 5. I bought a plane that is very complicated, very neat, but requires more hands on work than I am qualified to attempt. For that, I'm *smart* to know my limits versus TRY to put this thing together all wrong, go fly, and die in it. :)
Next plane will be 2 seats, preferably jet, something I can learn to build (or have built for me) and a blast to fly, even if it has a high operational cost. I'll take 10 jet hours over 1,000 propellor anyday :D But that's me
So, Rip, when are you going to start that pilot training :)

hey, you do know I dropped out of ground school the first day after I came home and wife say "Guess what turned pink..." That was my second son 8 months later...
Plan to do it when the kids are teens, closer to retirement, for various reasons, one primarily being that I will stay "active" with it up until I retire. Another fact I found out is about 65% of private pilots never get around to doing their "Cross Country" trip, due to unfamiliararity of airspace, airports...these figures are off the top of my head, it was an article I read a few years back.
