I tell a guy to relog or quit using the INVISO plane trick and get the mute. WTF!!??????
This close to pulling the plug on AH................This latest mute fest thats been coming my way is a buncha crap.

Ya, gotta agree. LLB is the last guy I'd expect to actually be unaware of his SA. If he got INVISO'd.. he got INVISO'd. Doesn't mean it's a cheat accusation (as he would seem to have indicated) but a lag problem.
...censor monkeys really should think (ie: apply grey matter) first. There's a problem in the MA, it's been noted enough cod knows. Asking (or telling )someone to relog due to what is more than likely a bad connect is more of a courtesy than anything else. Taken to heart it's even a good thing for the game overall.
When I'm told I'm warping.. I always check my connect but I will still relog. When I SEE warping I usually relog at the first opportunity. If it's bad, I'll reset my cable modem.. works great 9 out of 10 times.
But... I have a real problem with anyone getting slapped with a mute for anything thats not offensive (vulgar) or truly distasteful. Thats just plain cheesy. We do have a very effective squelch system, don't see the need for censor gods beyond vulgar or distasteful language. Nor do I see any benefit to the game. Little personal bias maybe?

On the other hand, you probably wouldn't have been muted if you just told the guy what you saw on your end and that he might wanna re-log.

I think HTC is trying to keep the "purported" invisible plane bug/cheat thing quiet so it doesn't spread untill they try to fix it.
At least thats what it seems to me.

I think the" cloaking devise " has to do with firewalls/XP - how their game loads/vs ports that are open thing . my friend that plays has the inviso problem now and then in the main and it seams to be because of his firewall / or some other combo that he has on his PC . also when in cloaked mode you cant see them on dar when abouve the 500 min alt.
My few gray cells entered here just because ...

Unrelated to LLB's situation, I got in a lil tussle last night myself. I was in an F6F and went HO on another F6F. He lost, and got on channel 1 with something like "hblair explain how we collide and you don't go down?!?" I told him we didn't collide, that I pinged him many times and the parts came off before we merged. I explain my tracers were turned off. Then he goes on and on about how he knows it was a collision. Apparently he thought he'd convince me that I had a delusional vision when I shot him down and that it was really a collision. Some people make me laugh. :)

On a more serious note: I'm really really glad HTC has decided to police the area a little more both here and on the bbs. Channel 1 has become a cesspool of adolescents crapping themselves in public. Its become epidemic. I feel its materially damaging AH. You see far too much of this:

ANYONE who dared shoot this guy down was a cheater, a HO, or a gangbanger. I only wish this was an isolated incident. Its gotten so bad you can't even shoot anyone down without being accused of cheating or of being a (LA7, P51, Spit, Niki, Chog) dweeb. Constant, endless whining about numbers imbalance. I can't imagine the kind of impression 10 minutes of average chan1 traffic gives a new customer on a two week trial.
Have you ever heard of the “broken window principal”? If a building has a broken window that is not tended to and fixed in a reasonable amount of time, soon the rest of the building gets trashed. Its like people assume that since that first window went unattended then it must be open season and anything goes. They assume the owners don’t care about protecting the property.
I think HTC needs to set a “minimum” standard of behavior both in the arena and here on the bbs. Their customers ought to be able to fly in the arena they are paying for and be able to shoot someone down without being verbally assaulted every time they do so. I think the “broken windows” that can’t or won’t control themselves should be muted or banned. I think HTC needs to protect their property.
This isn’t directed to you specifically LLB. Just my thoughts on the arena in general.

He said nothing profane, nothing perverse, nothing especially bad. So the guy doesn't like getting shot down or watching his bullets have 0 apparent effect.....I can understand his frustration.

Now that you mentioned it, I couldn't agree with you more wabbit. I thought it was an unspoken rule that only lil boys and goobers whined on channel 1 continuously after dying. It's not easy to keep the trap shut sometimes after being killed in an undesirable way, but there was a day if ya whined after every death, there was a stigma attached. Nowadays seems everybodys a bad sport. Mute the morons.

It's a bloody connection issue!!!..HTC is on it and it will be fixed.Don't accuse someone of cheating.It does absolutely nothing except start a flame war in channel 1 and cause more and more people to fly with squelch 1.And you know where that leads to...
And when it does get fixed(next version due very soon)...All these cheat accusers will turn their newly sharpened whining skills to other issues that were normally kept in check(HO's,Gangbanging,vultching..etc) because they think they can get away with saying anything...all the time....!

That's pretty funny coming from a guy who doesn't have enough self control to keep from ranting like an prettythanghole on channel one half the times he's shot down.
There's a reason some get muted on a regular basis, and it has nothing to do with power trips.

This is pretty funny, actually.
Just a few minutes ago I bounced a rook 17 and killed him with a vertical pass in compression. He (no_names) called me on open channel and asked if I was inviso. I killed a Lanc right behind him, that actually did see me and fired too. So, I told him to look out the tower of a nearby field, as I killed a Hellcat. He must have given the guy a six call, but it didn't do much good. Yes, he could see me. :D
I've watched NOE 190's from the Knight's come in and go vertical after alt grabbing planes. Some of the best guys in the game can fall prey to this move. Despite sending them six calls, they still get hit. A bounce from below is seldom expected, and is usually the last place one looks.
No one has perfect SA.

I wouldn't take KaK3's whines too seriously - it's just part of his game persona, and he has been whining about being shot down ever since I can remember in my AW days.... in fact, we often used to quickly tune to channel 1 to see which excuse he was going to use each time - ah, "cheat" - excuse no 327 :D He really isn't a bad guy - just doesn't like being shot down! ;)

Have only been in AH for about 6 mos and although I probably should not put my 2 cents in..I will anyway..the whining , moaning and name calling have definitely increased..the other night I actually saw someone calling another the "N" word..when several people jumped him about it He informed us that he was calling the other guy niger (in his words the country) although he spelled the "N" word quite correctly....Oh well...I suppose every barrell has a few bad apples

I can't see any reason LLB should have been muted. If HTC is sick of people complaining about the inviso plane problem and general "strange goings on" in the MA then perhaps HTC should:
1) Acknowledge it as a problem
2) Give us an ETA on a resolution
3) Resolve the issue
I think everyone who reads this BBS and flies in the MA knows its connectivity is degrading. Its a matter of tolerances...LLB just isn't willing to suffer in silence like many others.

Truth is you got goobs who'll piss and moan when they die no matter what. They are just bad sports period. And they think it is everybody elses duty to hear them cry. Whether there is a server problem or not has no bearing on their crying. Maybe the monitors are sick of hearing it. Why can't somebody get muted and just clam up and learn from it and not think the "system" is infringing on their rights?

Hmmm… Actually I don’t. Could you elaborate on that a little please?
I, after a few bad incidents, now record everything as well as squelch 6 and 1. 6 because I think it makes me fly better not worrying about the running kill number. 1 because of the crap about everything else except AH.
It started off as political crap that you couldn’t get someone to shut up about then it turned into a constant barrage of all various types of whining. Whining about numbers, whining about the stupid mustang that wont stay and turn with the zero, whining about being gangbanged, just crap whining.
I love taunting and general poking jabs but in the last few tours that’s not what’s been happening. So I gave up on one and find I enjoy flying more without reading the dribble on the open channel. Do I send ’s and GF’s? Not as much as before and if I do it ends up on a private channel and I never see the response.
Hell half the time I did send GF’s I got a snide remark anyway so I’m not sure that’s worth it either.
Once upon a long time from now when we do get a permanent squelch list I’ll open channel 1 back up. Otherwise I’m content being a mushroom.

Here's the story after a day of cooling down, and I'm still a little hot but feel better after reading these posts.
I was on a mission with a certian squad(no names in any of this)not my squad another. Were hitting V6 and A5. We had just captured v6 and me and my wingman were heading for A5 when the Lances started calling out they had a 109 on them. My wingman and I wepped to them just in time to see the 109 take out one Lance. I climbed up and got on the 109's 6. I followed him through several manuevers till he dissapeared. A second later I'm in the tower wondering WTF happened. This doesn't sound like a inviso plane thing but either I or the 109 had a bad conx long enough for him to get around on my 6. I got angry and yelled out on channel one to re the fek log or stop the inviso plane tricks to the guy that got the kill on me. Two seconds later I get the mute. I figure I got the mute becuase I was muted about a week ago by a certian HTC employee. I deserved it that time as I called a guy on channel 1 a few choice words that woulda made Lazs blush. I waited the ten minutes out by logging and watching a few good videos and then started in on the unknown muter on channel one. I soon got a private message from him telling me to watch it. Well those of you that know me well know thats like pouring gasoline on as the abomb is going off. Pyro finally told me to leave it alone so I did. I figure anything I say on channel one will be scrutinized as I have a target on my arse. I must be known trouble maker at the HTC facilities..... I dont mind being muted for being an bellybutton but it pissed me off not being able to voice to the guys I was on a mission and who were depending on me for help. If your going to mute us HTC then for Pete's sake just mute us on the damn channel were offending on! Leave our squad and voice channels alone! I was sooooo close to closing my account. I don't want to but if I get pissed off enough I woulda walked away and not looked back.
