Title: Web hosts?
Post by: Kratzer on June 20, 2002, 05:06:13 PM
Anyone recommend a good one?

Our current web host (we moved about 3 - 4 weeks ago after getting booted off of my company's servers) has been down more than it has been up.

What I need:
<=$10 a month
support for active server pages
support for an access DB through ODBC
OR
a free SQL2000 DB
some sort of email for me and the boys.

I don't need a static IP - just a site that stays up, has no ads, and lets us use our own domain name.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

http://www.primenethosting.com.  It supports a lot of stuff, you'll have to see for yourself if it supports the stuff you want.  I've been with them for over two years, and never remember them being down.  300MB for $10/mo ain't bad either, and they have an even cheaper plan!

Upload speed from their servers seems plenty fast too.

Holy toejame...I searched high and low for the Primenet deal when I was first looking and it was the cheapest I could find (and was luckily not a crappy connect).  If anyone does this new one, let us know how it is!

SOB, I'm using both PrimeNet and CheapHostOnline. I set up a web site for our local roller hockey league (http://www.ridgecresthockey.org) on PrimeNet. I bought space on CheapHost for some personal stuff (http://www.dotdoubledot.com) and I'm running the SBM site (http://www.dotdoubledot.com/sbm/) there.

I've yet to use all the features on CheapHost, but so far not a single glitch.

Given a choice, take CheapHost. They offer more than PrimeNet and they charge less for it.
