Title: Having a bad day?
Post by: Widewing on June 21, 2002, 11:07:06 AM
If you find yourself having a bad day, it may be due to a lack of sleep.

I was up at 5 AM to do some manuscript editing, followed by an 11 hour day in the office. After that, I worked for another 2 hours on the manuscript. Then I played the game for a few hours, staying up past 2 AM. I had a good night, going 14/1, but I was getting sloppy towards the end. Back to bed, get 4 hours of sleep, followed by 10 hours in the office. Two more hours of editing, then game time.

Well, I was awful, making stupid mistakes, not paying attention and generally sucking eggs. Barely finished with a 2/1 score (9 kills, 4 deaths). It wasn't lag or invisible aircraft. It wasn't a lousy connection or face-shooting Dweebs, it was me. I was terrible.

I realized that a lack of sleep will turn me into a target faster than anything else. 7.5 hours of sleep over 60+ hours is a sure-fire recipe for getting clobbered.

So, if you seem to be having a rough day/evening in the MA, consider a nap. Or better yet, log off early and get a good night's rest.

My regards,

Widewing

My baby sleeps five to seven hours straight throug the night at two months old.  Plus he takes two to three naps during the day of several hours in length.

All this at two months old.  Geez, you people need new kids.  :D

Try 2-3 hours of sleep a night for about 2 years.  The bod actually was holding up fairly well but the brainwaves were warping.  Started seeing spots... got tunnelvision reall bad all the time.  I ended up on all kinds of really good drugs and didn't actually wake up for 2 days lol.  Therapy helped too.

I wasn't aware that you had a new baby. Congratulations and my best wishes. Raising kids is probably the greatest challenge of one's life, and the most rewarding.

Mine are pretty much grown now, one in college, the second a senior in high school. Now I lose sleep wondering where they are and what they're doing. :D As much as it may seem desirable, you can't help being a parent no matter how old and self-reliant they become.

My regards,

Widewing

Hard and fast rule:

Anyone that posts his K/D results on a weekly basis for everyone to marvel over...

Is put on the "to do" list.

For addition to my butt wall.

Widewing your at the top.

And being hung on my butt wall is not a good thing..

Because I suck.

But I'm very persistant..

And you'll look good there..

;)

From the  Desiderata (http://www.jump.net/~lswote/desiderata.html) :

...But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness....

lol.

Hey, if MY score is something to marvel at, then you do suck! :D

There's nothing more annoying than persistant suckiness, speaking from experience here. ;)

I'll be looking for your D-hog Poop, always fun to mix it up. Me? I fly everything. So you'll never know what I'll be in.

See ya out there.

My regards,

Widewing

Widewing, taking a gander at your scores tells me a few things.

One you fly ALOT. :) Kills per hour tells me your careful ( very similar to mine ), your gunnery is good,  and you indeed fly EVERYTHING. Flying habits look close to mine in the overview.

What gives me pause is the plane you have the most kills in..

A Yak.

Yak drivers give me the shivers...

Yak drivers are...eh....different.

They...

Well I take the long way around when I see them walking down the hallway.

Also see your a greybeard :D

I like that. Course I probably picked on you when you were a freshman in highschool..

;)

...and I collect Colts :)
