Some place where fans of HTC's competition can peddle their wares in peace.

Funkedup,
What made you think to use the word 'competition'? 8)

"What made you think to use the word 'competition'?"
Charity.
-
Didn't they get enough 'charity' in the form of interest free 1.5+ year loans via boxed game sales? 8)

OUCH!

yeah..but then you all would just piss and moan cause evreyone was reading there and not here. :p

The death struggle is ugly to watch,
But there is such a thing as atonement. Ripping off buyers, some of whom were kids, was wrong. How far removed from the free download and monthly charge that works so well, eh? Sad.

actually..strategy first got the money for the box sales.According to a rat they didn't make prolly 5 box per box, if that much. A lot of ppl thought using a publisher would be a mistake. Start First wont let CRS sell CD key codes for 9.95 in the US market, only overseas and doesnt seem to keen on supporting them now. You know, some ppl kinda like pics from diff sims. You should see some of the videos guys have made. Try should http://www.vuso.wwiionline.com/fanmovies.htm be links to vids ..a war time radio station..other stuff.

Yeah. And according to someone close to it, out of the initial sales, $20/pop went out to the publisher/developer: ten bucks a pop.
Still, you figure 30k initial sales, that's 300,000 for CRS. That's a drop in the bucket.
I left after sometime after release, after being invited to by the then head of the testers. I had published detailed information on exactly what was wrong with the 9mm parabellum rounds, and exactly under what conditions they flew backwards.
They may have read my reports, but they sure didn't tell me. The only thing I heard was "there might be a problem with the 9mm parabellum, but we haven't seen enough evidence."
WEll, I gave them evidence. For months, I gave them evidence.
Finally, they posted osmething to their public site, saying "We found there was a problem with the bullet drag that made them fly backwards under certain conditions."
Uh.... That's what I've been saying for the last two months. I even described those conditions to a level that they were repeatable by anybody falling a certain regime.
But nobody bothered to respond.
After spending more time than I cared doing this, I got a response that was effectively a slap in the face.
I raised a stink, and I must confess, they iimproved their comms with the beta testers. But I was invited to leave..
So I did.
Nearly a year later, I thought about giving them another try. The good people (and honestly, in spite of my issues they're good people, got laid off. Come to think of it, Playnet even owes me money (seventy-five bucks) they've never bothered to acknowledge personally. Heck, I didn't even get a message when they went bankrupt.
Still, I remembered some fine moments in a church tower, slaughtering krauts with my lee-enfield.
So I tried to download.
I'm sorry, IL-2 is different. If you don't download the patch, you still have a working and entertaining product. With WW2Ol, if yopou don't have the patch (which is a 100mb obligatory download), you don't play.
With a 56k, that's something around 6 hours.
I tried several times. Including this afternoon. My PC locked up at 89%. Sure, I could download some bit of spyware that allowed me to resume, but just for WW2OL? Anything less than 64 Megs I can download at the library and dump into my pen drive.
Sorry, I like the folks; it's a great idea; but the implemetation poor. And you still can't bail out of a burning tank?
-
Sorry for your pain. The inf weapons have really been tweaked. That full d/l is the entire game at gigex, about 107 megs. No need to use the CD at all. Bailking out and becoming a free infantry is a tough code, cause you essentially become another vehicle, plus how do you get the tank etc to disappear over time. Just one of the many things they want to add. Tell me your city and I will see if I can get someone to burn the full install for you...email me at

imagine the reaction at the WWIIOL forums if someone from AH were to start multiple threads extolling the greatness of AH.
not that we need to or anything.
just saying...
-
this is an off topic forum, and so if I can see title threads from Caligula spouting off on the Isreal-Palestine watermelon or any other numerous posters of non-AH related topic I'll dam well post something about IL-2, WWII, warbirds or any other dam subject I wish.

It means making two trips, but try a file splitter/joiner like this one

There are loads of these about, mostly freeware like this one.

You couldn't, you have to be a member first. And you're right, it's getting close to spamming lately. I don't see a problem with an occasional thread, but multiple threads are bad if they are all started by the same person. IF, however, multiple people start individual threads, it would seem to indicate this is something the gamers want to discuss.
Whether it is the proper venue to carry such discussions can only be defined by HTC. Hey, at least they aren't flame-fests, and they are located in the O' Club.

sorry about the second thread.
