Title: New animals needed
Post by: bloom25 on January 28, 2000, 07:40:00 PM
Those sheep seem to have multiplied to the point where they have covered the entire map with a white fluffy layer of living wool.  My suggestion is to implement some predators ASAP, before it's too late.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

I suppose a stop-gap solution would be to make our rifles work after we bail out of an aircraft.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

ROFL Bloom, I was thinking the same thing.  Make the sheep polygons and let us strafe them.  A few well placed shots will thin out the hoard quickly  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

No!

Enable the rifle. You now have the choice to ruck back to your field (or spy), but you must use sheep for food (or entertainment   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)). Gotta be careful you get them, 'cause their bleating may draw unwanted attention...

<tongue in cheek, of course>

No Dakota, I think he is from one of the...er  Dakotas.  North Dakota?

Which Dakota are you from, Dakota.  Your sheep similar to the AH sheep there?   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

I'm from Oregon and I've never seen more than 15 sheep in one field.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Aces High has about 1.86 million of them it seems like.

The stones sing.

I really wish they wouldnt show where we live on this UBB....

Where I come from sheep are called "Meadow Maggots".   However, cyber sheep could be used tactically.  Each side needs its own pack of cyber sheep dogs to drive the the sheep onto the runways of the opponent.  Just try to take off--plop-slap-whacka-whacka-squish-clouds of wool in the air.
Give the sheep controlability!

Be careful for what you ask for  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
==================================

Careless code recycling cause killer kangas --Mutant Marsupials
Take Up Arms Against Australian Air Force

The reuse of some object-oriented code had caused tactical headaches for Australia's armed forces.  As virtual reality simulators assume larger roles in helicopter combat training, programmers have gone to great lengths to increase the realism of their scenarios, including detailed landscapes and -- in the case of the Northern Territory's Operation Phoenix -- herds of kangaroos (since disturbed animals might well give away a helicopter's position).

The head of the Defense Science & Technology Organization's Land Operations/Simulation division reportedly instructed developers to model the local marsupials' movements and reactions to helicopters. Being efficient programmers, they just re-appropriated some code originally used to model infantry detachment reactions under the same stimuli, changed the mapped icon from a soldier to a kangaroo, and increased the figures' speed of movement.

Eager to demonstrate their flying skills for some visiting American pilots, the hotshot Aussies "buzzed" the virtual kangaroos in low flight during a simulation.  The kangaroos scattered, as predicted, and the visiting Americans nodded appreciatively... then did a double-take as the kangaroos reappeared from behind a hill and launched a barrage of Stinger missiles at the helpless helicopter.  (Apparently the programmers had forgotten to remove THAT part of the infantry coding.)  The lesson? Objects are defined with certain attributes, and any new object defined in terms of an old one inherits all the attributes. The embarrassed programmers had learned to be careful when reusing object-oriented code, and the Yanks left with a newfound respect for Australian  wildlife.

Simulator supervisors report that pilots from that point onward have strictly avoided kangaroos, just as they were meant to.

Sorry to say, but you are all WRONG...
The Beta arena is based on a map of a place called "Black mountains" aproximately 50 Miles south of Bristol...I have some pics to prove it, i have a friend who lives there...

I showed this thread to my date. It was my take on it that she was not impressed.

When I asked her what she thought, she remaind uncommunicative. When pressed, all she would say was:

"Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"

Oh; ...and she's from Texas.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

I was stationed in Montana for 2 years and there are sheep, though I think there are more antelope.

Big Huge ELK!!!!!

As far as a sheep predator, I think we need wolfs.

Then for Variety, Little Red Riding Hood.

We can use Red and the Sheep similarily.

Of course think what the woodsman would cut off with the axe when he gets modled.

OK, here's the plan.  We give the B-26 a loadout of toxic slurry for sheep bombing runs, like pictured below: (I know, it's an A-26, but bear with me   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) )

The toxic slurry contains a chemical that turns them inside-out, making them butt ugly, and rather scary.  The less percent of sheep, the less mutton the opposing team has to eat (somehow they become depressed too) and it makes their pilots weaker, which makes them black out easier and have reduced strength to maneuver.

We should have a sheep ranch to go along the strategic positions like HQ and flak factories.  Bombing this ranch will limit or stop the countries production of sheep for 30 mins, so none will regenerate, so they'd better scramble some fighters to save their sheep from vulching strafers and low-level toxic slurry attacks.

One country can steal another countries sheep be herding them with C-47's transporting them to the homeland and dropping them...oops...forgot the parachute...SPLAT...ok, give em parachutes...and the enemy can strafe the sheep as they float down.  Also, we should be able to drop diseased sheep over the rook's homeland, so all thier pilots get sick from certain diseases.   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Happy flying   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

Jeeeeez dude, bio-chemical warfare via sheep.  Sick man, sick.  Although:

Parachuting sheep ain't a bad idea, but it's wasteful.  And if you think that those poor things 'll be able to pull a ripcord, much less get out of the damn things without strangling themselves.

Here's what I suggest:
Black sheep.  Make the rifle work, and you have to defend yourself (and your current sheep of choice) from these sluts  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Ok, I'm going to tally up the results of my thread.
1.  Some people want to enable rifle
2. Some people want to vulch the sheep (ok, this is a good use for all those hog-1c around  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) )
3. Some people, er... make that 1, want an "agent orange" load-out for the b26 to mutate the sheep.
4. One person wants goats...
5. Hangtime impressed his date. (I hope.)
6. We can be glad they aren't kangaroos. (Very funny btw. Also, good thing our sheep don't have stinger missiles.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) )
7. We may have discovered a new use for c47s
8. We have learned that the bishops are really sheep.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
9. We've created the funniest post since Manock left us.  (Although "b17 flight model" is still a classic thread IMO, a must read for newbies.) 10. We have truely created the biggest waste of Internet bandwidth and server HD space I've ever seen. (Ok, maybe not ... ex: "Today's report, "Calling them like I see them" ...)  11. We made everyone reconsider their opinions on sheep.
