Is it just me, or does the nose of that plane look just a little more pointy than usual?
-
I wish I didn't have to be peacekeeping in Siberia...
-
Its that cold weather simulation chamber. or sumthin like that.
-
hmm, whats that doing there?
-
I think it's a Tu-160 not a B-1. I don't think they would keep American planes in hangars like that and it looks like it has a star on the tail.
-
Maybe a Tu-160 in a German hangar?
-
SOmeone went crazy with the insulation? Or the maid hasnt come for years.
-
Your an idiot if you think that could possibly be a tu160. Specially from this angle. It is obviously a B1B. It is undergoing harsh weather testing in the Freezer(a cool place i might add) at a Eglin A.F.B. as somone said. Man how in hell could you mistake that for a Tu160 not to mention the size difference.
-
The B1 is tested in all phases of flight and static...here we have the results of the stay-puff marshmallow man test, as you can see gentlemen the results are devasting....:D
-
then why's there a german cross on a peice of debris?
-
....so, I see my wife dropped by.
-
It is a B1 Lancer, in fact the B Model, it is configured for conventional weapons.
Note the main gear has 2 sets of 2, a total of 4 wheels for each side, further note that the B1 has a full set of vertically placed canards near the nose. The B1 also has a more pronounced bend on the back of the aircraft between the weapons officer section and the rudder.
The TU-160 has a smaller set of horizontally placed canards almost under the cockpit, the TU-160 also lacks pronounced bend on the back, and finally the coup de gras: The TU-160 has 3 sets of 2 tires on the main gear, a total of 6 tires each side.
There are other small differences there also, but I won't bore you with them today.
