Salute CT!
Oboe2, and I, are leaving VF-27 to start the 27th Sentai. Yes it will be affiliated with the "27th Sentai" of Warbirds fame. It will also have a close relationship with VF-27, even if we are shooting at each other.:D Our biggest goal is to help populate the Axis side in the CT.
Although Sentai is a IJAAF term we will also be a carrier qualified squad, operating the A6M, and other IJN birds, from CV and land bases. We will also fly as a Luftwaffe Jagdgeschwader during ETO CT set-ups.
If any of you are interested in becoming a member you can contact the
27th Sentai Commander: Oboe2 tjlaven@attbi.com
or myself vande42@ev1.net
Thanks

wtg! great idea.

Good Luck there Lowe. I enjoy flying against you guys in VF-27 when I get the chance.

In my 416 RCAF in Warbirds days I did enjoy crossing swords with the 27th Sentai :)
Looking forward to it in AH

It is so cool even now to run into pilots who remember 27th Sentai from WarBirds. We must've done something right back then!
I hope we will enjoy the same success here in AH, and encourage more pilots to fly IJ iron. Would be a little easier with more late war IJAAF birds, but we'll take what we get and like it, by Golly.
If you guys know of any good sticks itching to fly for the Rising Sun, be sure to send 'em in our direction.
Thanks, all!

best of luck oboe and lowe

Often my squad (The Buccaneers) switches sides when numbers indicate the need. Sometimes we even play on both sides at once and fight each other. Keep this flexible idea open as an option.

Big to lowe and oboe for taking this seriously and doing something about it. For this I cannot enough. (BTW lowe I live about 4 hours south of you mate)
And a big >S< to wildblue for just being himself...he's so over the top and energetic...he's bound to be an assest to his squad..he is quick witted and always points out how much his squad is willing to do and sacrifice. He is also willing to point out how everyone else is useless and incapable to accomplish what his squad has :p
That aside I will repeat my to oboe and lowe for their commitment to making the CT a better arena.
Unfortunately, I'm afraid that this is a knee jerk reaction. My intentions were not for the VF-27 or any squad to disband, split or not fly their favorite scenario.
My concern was about multiple squads flying at one time and overbalancing the arena. I realise that VF-27 and 880's did not actively or directly engage the axis (for this forethought I once again )
VF-27 has been flying Tuesdays and Thursdays for a while now and I have not heard much in the way of complaints during the previous time.
The concern was that the total number of members in the 3 squads present that night equalled or surpassed the average number of flyers in the CT for both sides for any given night.
To be explicit...I don't think that lowe and oboe leaving their squad to form an axis squad is absolutley called for (although I do them for the commitment and sacrifice). The axis side has almost always been fighting the odds (with the exception of the Stalingrad map).
The addition of an axis committed CT squad is welcomed but the main concern was more to the effect of multiple allied squads operating in concert...not the absolute need for a axis squad.
I leave with this last bit...it has been mentioned that the lack of an axis squad is at the heart of the matter, that the arena will be better for it...I disagree, this has not really been a problem. The problem was during the PTO setup when the allied numbers (from squads) exceed the total average number for both sides on any given night. I submit then the answer is not a dedicated axis squad.
Forewarning (or foreshadowing to you literary types)...if multiple squads fly during the PTO setups in the same night (disclaimer: I'm not knocking your preference, I'm just stating what I believe will happen) then you will find yourself without a substantial number of enemies to fight against...most will log in and seeing the overbalancing will promptly log out.
This is not an attempt for another flame war...I really do respect the efforts of VF-27 in an attempt to better the CT ( oboe and lowe) but I'm not sure this really addresses the problem that was experienced the other night.
Once again all...and please take this serious...I'm not just trying to troll or start trouble...I really don't like the thought of lowe and oboe leaving VF-27 for reasons that I really don't think will solve the problems that were experienced the other night.

I think in the current map we really need an imballance. The map is very stuck as far as captures go.

Drunky, and thanks!
I agree with a lot of what you've said here, ie. Lowe and I forming the axis squad will not solve the problem of multiple large allied squads sharing squad nights in a lightly populated arena.
We're merely part of the needed solution. We thought VF-27 needs some organized, dedicated IJ opposition to keep PTO settings working. You are right, I am afraid if people login to a PTO CT on a Tues or Thurs and see 16:4 in favor of the Allies, they'll just log and go to the Main or pick up a book. But with Lowe and I and a couple of rotating volunteers from VF-27, we can reduce that 16:4 to 12:8 right off the bat. And that's a step in the right direction, IMO.
Don't worry about the sacrifice part - Lowe and I are getting pretty excited about this "new" squad. And the temporary volunteer pilots who come over from VF-27 to help even the odds will get some experience flying the opposition's planeset. They'll be better Hellcat pilots for it.
Looking forward to flyin' with you!

Hi Drunky.
This really is not a knee jerk reaction. I love being in on the building of new squads. Japanese squad are fairley rare , and it will be a challenge trying to sell it to people. Looking forward to it, and looking forward to flying on the "Dark Side" ;)
SALUTE DRUNKY!

All of the squad COs that fly in the CT are aware of the problem. We will work it out, have some faith lads. New units in the CT is the only way its going to thrive anyways, not the odd "tourist" from MA poppong in for a sortie. Lets see where it goes, and modify as required.
This last 3 weeks has seen two brand new units form with the CT in mind, 880 Squadron, and the 27th Sentai, and more will follow, its all good...
Regards.
