Hey folks,
Just wanted to say hello, and I'm gonna give AH a go. WB is getting stale with a capitol 'S', I hope things will be better here. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Now... off to set up my stick.

PS- One question, I checked the FAQ but couldn't find any mention of this. Any recommendations for the 'Disable triple buffering' and 'Use z-buffer' setting in the video set up section? I figure I'll just leave them be as last time I messed with them my system froze. Just curious.
See y'all up there. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Welcome! I hope you enjoy the game.
One word of advice though... Please don't go over to the AGW board and start taunting them about the move. It takes about 3 weeks for everything to stabilize after that occurs (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Welcome Datter. I'm agreed on the 'staleness' of WB; it's kinda sad. Anyways, there is real progress in AH. Good luck climbing the learning curve. Once you do, you will find yourself having a *lot* of fun here.
BTW, All those check boxes do on my system is make the game slower with no appreciable difference in video quality.

Z-Buffer is used for 3D glasses. Enabled or disabled I don't think it has any impact on performance. Triple BUffering is..? Something all 2nd(we are on the 3rd generation of 3D cards right now?) generation cards have. You can run a web search on what it is.. I don't know though.
Welcome to AH, enjoy killing and dying. :-)

Welcome, Datter, glad to serve up your first AH kill. They aren't always so easy. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Thanks for the nice welcome guys, especially popeye. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
I managed a couple of kills from a tank last night (or some sort of ground vehicle anyway) and maybe 3 more air to air. All in all I had a great time.
Thanks,

Datter,
One of the first things you need to do is set up your views.
Hold a view on you stick, use page up and page down to move your "head" up and down.
Then use the arrow keys to move your head forward and back. When you determine the best position for each view, hit F10 to save it.
Adjust each of you views this way with each plane, it helps a whole lot.
Welcome to AH.

I just got a new system and was looking into this very same thing and found this on a gaming site, "VSYNC off, and Triple Buffering are two separate approaches to eliminate one of the artificial limits in benchmarking - the vertical retrace speed. VSYNC off is the preferred approach for this. Triple Buffering is a backup approach that's used for cards that don't support VSYNC off. Using Triple Buffering and VSYNC off together provides no benefit. In fact, it can be detrimental to performance since more of the available local video memory is consumed when Triple Buffering is invoked."
