seeing as alot of people want the ju-87 stuka i was wondering if we could give the IL-2 a boost since it is a dive bomber also, so i was thinking aloud on the radio buffer in the MA about an original sight(s) for the IL-2 sure would make dive bombing easier (i hope) and make the sturmowhatchamacallit a more viable plane than it already is :)
-
True words!
1. IL2 should be stronger plane than now.
2. Kaboooza version is needed against GVs and PTs
-
it would also help the IL2 if a drop of 2*100kg (about 400lb) directly on a flakpanzer would at least scratch the paint off of it.
for now, most times, it would just seat there in the middle of the crater joyfully shooting at you.
the rockets kill the gv's better than the bombs.
Still my favorite gv buster.

Kaz.. u can build the sight yourself..

i would but i'm too lazy  first i'd have to find out what the sight(s) looked like then i'd have to make it in paint...i'm sweating just thinking about that daunting task :D

use IL2 as an example/help?
-
IL2 the game? don't have it don't have access to it maybe i can find some screenshots of an il2 in il2 somewhere somehow that's if u're talking about the game.

http://www.il2sturmovik.com im sure there is a picture around there.

thanks for the link i'm sure Skurj is already on it making the IL2 sight :D i will look into it also

Kaz,
Assuming the game IL-2 has it historically accurate (don't know, never seen one of the planes, myself), this is what the IL-2 sight looks like. Thing is, it's a fixed sight, rather than a reflector sight as AH uses.
There is a version of the soviet reflector sight used in vvs fighters at this site: http://www.ceres.dti.ne.jp/~nabezo/AH/gunsight/gunsight.htm suitable for use with AH. I use this sight in the IL-2 and the Yaks. (Don't fly the La's much).
It's not very well-suited to dive bombing or rockets, unfortunately.
Hope this is of some help.

Heh nope+)
Any sight won't improve your divebombing +)
I believe Stukas used a simple Angle drawn on the cockpit glass to one side which the pilot could use to judge dive angle, which I think is the most critical aspect of divebombing.

thanks for the pic and site link Dennis yes it did help until i read skurj's post he's a killjoy aint he? :p and thank u skurj for filling in that bit of info on dive angles etched into the sightand yes dive angle is important. one thing i'm not sure about though...did the stuka pilots go inverted to see if they were over target or did they have some kinda glass floor or rudimentary 'bomb' sight to know when to start their dive? i think i've seen films of stukas just nosing over to start their bombing run dunno if that's accurate or not.
-
stuka pilots had a small square hole between their legs...no not to pee :) but to hit with their 250kg if thats what they where carrying. They dived @ about 70deg angle to target and used the crosshairs to know where the bomb is hitting. The problem that i see with inverted divin on a stuka is when u build speed in the dive its hard to get out of it.

cool omegaMrk thanks for that info hey when the stuka arrives maybe we'll get that hole too.
