Well, Fariz really should take the nr1 spot in the Yaks.

(and Im assuming "best" means "best", screw the statistics, if you have flown with/against someone, you know if they are good or bad..its a "feeling")

Not numbers..you can check them in stats. Just general thoughts. Just an etiquette pilots have as a P-47 aces, etc.

Thanks

Wilbuz in the 190
Title: Best specific pilots?

Ok lets go through:

1. Yaks: Fariz

2. FW190: Wilbuz, Hristo, Mandoble

3. P47: Just search for Zemke's Wolfpack, Ammo, Sancho and all other are exellent sticks, and if they come around in numbers, it's time to head for home ;)

4. P51: geez i forgot a few, but even though i hate to say it, Shane will be in that list

5: F4U: feed, but i think he is not around in AH since about 10 month or so

6: P38: Citabria/Fester (or whatever his nick is atm), TAC

F4U : Torque ...

He's still in his blue ice nothern ?
Title: Best specific pilots?
Post by: Hristo on June 27, 2002, 06:30:24 AM
Naudet, please replace Hristo with Apar and Kirin. I haven't had more than a month of continous flying for exactly two years now. If I ever knew anything, it has diminished.

Apar is the quickest killer in a 190. Especially when he is in a Dora, rest of 9./JG54 got only assists. Kirin has mastered the 190A-8, one-pass-killer.

Straffo - help me out. I believe your signature means "The harder you pedal, the more slowly you will advance." Is this correct? Idiomatic French is un chien to understand ;)
Title: Best specific pilots?
Post by: straffo on June 27, 2002, 06:43:48 AM
not quite beet1e :)
in fact even for natives french speaker it's hard to understand :D

it's more : The harder you pedal slowly , the less you will advance long  ;)
It's the feeling I have in AH currently ...

I tried to translate it  but I'm not native english speaker so I don't now if it mean the  same in english

Post by: K West on June 27, 2002, 08:05:24 AM
1. Yak  - GhostH always gave me fits in when I bumped into him. :)  (never bumped into Fariz)

2. 190  - RAM

3. P-47 - Frenchy, as well as not just a few of the jug-centric guys.

4. P-51 - Hangtime

5. F4U  - Kbman

6. P-38 - Citabria

and how could you not add the 109?

7.  109 - Nath/Aper (equally imo)

Note: I do not consider an expert at "cherry picking" to be a master of thier ride or an aircombat samurai.  They're just good staying high, safe and able to slap down those not looking.  All of the above IMO are experts in all facets of air combat with thier respective rides. Some like Drex and Leviathan(Dead) will be an expert no matter WHAT the ride they choose :)

to you all.

Nothing like stroking egos huh?  I've shot a few of them down myself.  Especially Hangtime a few times.   I care less who is a "great stick", if they're Rooks, great I got their backs.  If anyone else in the ARENA is Knight or Bish, I can careless.

I used to be the best in the 190a8 and for proof I say ask Hangtime if he remembers the spankings I gave him a couple of years ago :D

I'm too much of a dweeb now to have many good flights anymore.  But I still love lugging that heavy 4 cannon beast around at low alt so you better watch out! :)

Westy makes a good point. The true master is the one that kills you even when you have the advantage.

Drex was low & slow in p47, I came in higher faster 3 times in 15 min in a la7 and he handed me my head all 3 times.

Wilbuz, Apar, natural born killers of the LW kind.

Jugs well its already been said. 56th Zemke's wolfpack has perhaps the best jug pilots in the game exceptions being Drex & Lephturn.

Westy thanks for the complement but in the recent loose duece shootout Odee & myself ran into Fariz & his wingman. We won one out of 3, all in the Yak9U. Fariz is awesome, I don't consider myself in his class.

If I look up and see 6 high P51's I think Midnight & the 412th And I bank E while calling for help.
But if I see 2 or 3 low pony's I say lookout, Hangtimes in town & I run away.
Hangtime OWNS the pony low & dirty.

Just a little question from my side:

I flew AH for over a year, but never i ran into Drex.

I heard from everywere that he is one hell of a stick. Does he use an AH nick different from "Drex" or does he spent only a few hours a month in the MA?

Naudet,

The answer to your question about Drex is a very simple one that has very complex repurcussions.  The answer will make even less sense if you have never seen the movie "The Usual Suspects."  The reason for this is that Drex is the AH version of Keyser Soze.  He is there, but you don't really know he is there.  He is everywhere but nowhere.  He is what every virtual pilot scares his children with: "Check 6 and cover your father's (or, seeing as this is the 21st century, mother's) back, or Drex will get you."

Drex is the best stick "I" have seen in WB or AH. He is good in every plane he flies, and he usually puts himself always at a disadvantage to make it more challenging (hooligan does it too).

Granted these guys are squadmates of mine for a few years but everytime I talk to them I learn something new. Cant tell you how many time I see a lone orange dot on dar with red dots surrounding it.

I ask who is geting swarmed?

Drex answers: "me"

I say: OTW to help

now as I vector to get there quiclkl usually diving cause i know it wil be on oe near the deck. In my 2 minute flight time to hom I see the kill buffer with drex' name all over it. I finally show up and there he is by himself. unreal

Thanks Ghosth.. but those days are gone. I don't own toejam, in anything at any altitude any more. Thanks to the creep of MS, age, meds, and increasingly lousy eye to hand cordination, my old skills are shot to hell. I'm a mere shadow of the pilot yer thinking of.. Like the proverbial old dog, I have a few tricks still, but this old dog has slowed way down.

There's a new pony boy in town. His name is WldThing. He gets my vote.

But damn, I'd be lyin if I said it didn't make me feel good again to see my name come up in this thread. Thanks, guys.

Thnx Hangtime but still your one of the best i know off  ;)

And Load since when has kappa been flying the P51:confused: :)

Hes probebly the best p38 pilot in the game except Fester, havent really fought kappa or Fester, but what ive seen from these too is skills that come with time..

Hmm Best P47 pilot would go to Drex.

190 Probebly Apar, hes a good pilot in that LW plane, fought him before in DA..Put up a good fight.

There are many people that havent been mentioned as good pilots, because we dont hear them talking much in AH, they might be as good of pilots as these names that have been mentioned in this Thread, So you really cant pick the BEST pilots in the game.
Title: Best specific pilots?
Post by: Widewing on June 27, 2002, 12:32:29 PM
hmmm, I can't say who is best, because most of those mentioned are countrymates, or I haven't seen them lately, except for Fester.

I fly all of these and I KNOW that I don't rate up there anywhere remotely close to the best. I'm learning, and gradually improving, but I still make stupid mistakes, like accepting HOs or pressing attacks into hordes of enemy. I know, stupid is as stupid does.

This tour:
Yak-9U: 67/9
Fw 190: 23/2
P-47: 5/0
P-51: 50/12
F4U: 16/3
P-38: 9/5 (Jabo exclusively)

Those are ok numbers, which just goes to show that numbers don't always reflect skills. I love to watch the "experts" fly, 'cause I can learn a great deal from just watching. Indeed, I learned more from watching Fester for 10 minutes than in a hundred hours of flying. Ditto for Leviathn, Nath, Ammo and a host of others. I don't look at getting waxed by the hot sticks as a loss. That's because I always come away having learned something, which will make me a tougher opponent the next time we meet
(thank God for film). Ask Fester. ;)

I won't go as far as thanking them for shooting me down, but I do thank them for the opportunity to improve my skills.

My regards,

Widewing

There are too many skilled people to mention, IMO.  Adding to who's been mentioned already (and going outside the initial aircraft mentioned...)

Mitsu in the Ki-61 comes to mind.  He's deadly.

hblair got mentioned, but I have to give him credit for being as accurate as he is with that 30mm on the 109G-10.  I can't hit anything with it, and he seems to never miss.

Rude is one of the best P-51 pilots around.

Oh, and the 56th guys...  They be good outside of Jugs too.  I ran across two P-51Bs a little lower than me.  I figured since I had the E and was in my Spit V I could take 'em both.  I prolly could have if they weren't good squaddies and I was more decisive on which one to go after first.  One of them ended up popping my pilot after about a 3-5 minute fight.

Leviathn in his Spit V is tough.  Only time I can ever recall getting him is because I had TeeeRex with me.

Best I've seen so far in this game:

P51: Hangtime

P47: Frenchy (all 56th guys are great, but Frenchy is the one I find more challenging to fight :))

P38: Fester/Citabria.

F4U: as much as I don't like him ,Lazs is a real ace in it.

Yak: Never found him in one, but have fought him in La5FN and Spitfire in the past. Fariz.

La5FN: Gie . Long time since I last saw him but the guy really knew to fly the La5.

Ki61: Mitsu. A real assassine in it :)

Fw190: Many are good drivers of the Würger, but two names came to my mind. Hristo and StSanta. Can't decide which of them, tho :).

Bf109: Three, one per G-class.

All the Llv.34 guys are great, but the best 109G2 driver I've seen is Camo.

In 109G6, Aper. Is a looooooooooooooong time since I last saw him in AH, but what this guy could do with this plane is out of reach for 99% of the pilots in AH.

The best 109G10 pilot I know is Supongo. But each time he sees a spitfire he loses his mind :D.

To be fair I have to say that I've seen Citabria master most of the planes in this game. IMO is the best all around pilot of AH.

I've never seen Drex fighting so I can't give my opinion.

1. Yaks Fariz
2. 190 Nath
3. P-47 Frenchy
4. P-51 Me, at least in scenarios.  Lots of guys can look good in this thing.
5. F4us Hooligan
6. P-38 Leviathn or Drex when they bother.
Title: Best specific pilots?

1. Yaks  Fariz (I think cas every1 says so)  Fariz u chased me other night but didnt catch me so we've never actually fot.
2. 190 Huh, 190s suck.
3. P-47 Gurge (he has a jug with anti gravity)
4. P-51 Act or hangtime or maybe even yeager (very close, very persistant)
5. F4us torque (nath & kbman are chog dweebs)
6. P-38 Drex (cit is disqualified cas he cheats so does kappa)
7. Spit V (or any spit probably) Leviathon (every1 just give up, run)

8. Best shot goes to Hooligan or fester with kappa very close. I think hooligan uses less ammo whereas fester's mechanics love him to death and like to see him return. Kappa has a very nice long shot.

9. Best hunter goes to cp.

10. Best reversals (guys who u think u got then oh shiit) drex, torque, ra, villa, levi (spits R cheater planes).

Gals enjoy yoyr trophies. The rest of you girls keep on dancing and singing, because it aint over yet :D

Oh and everybody please stop cheating. JK

EDIT: Oops forgot the 109s

11: 109s gos to GRUNHERZ (there are alot of good 109 jocs like hblair and others but GR stands out) GR will show you the time difference between 12 oclock US time and 6 oclock German time.

EDIT: One mor edit and that it.

Best Intruder missions goes to vulcan and his OJ simpson sorties.

I dunno about best in p38, but one guy that gives me fits every time I run into him is ManeTMP.  I just can't seem to get my sights on him... I remember I came charging in on him a few weeks ago in a p51 and he was still retracting his landing gear and he still managed to twist that 38 in ways I'd never thought possible.  I don't make any claims to being a hotshot or anything but I've been around awhile. :)

Yep, Mane does that freaky pull E out ya bellybutton trick that Festerboil used to. I haven't fought HBlair or Gurge lately, but I hear there real good in the 109 and P-47 respectively. Drex is about the best I've ever fought in a P-47 or a F6F, but I hear he started out in 190's. Mathman is the best A6M5 pilot I've ever seen and real good in the F6F also. I don't consider that there are any best pilot in a special type.

I don't think that anyone can outfly me. Not trying to look pompous here, it's just my view, let me explain. I never met a pilot who was consistantly beating me on "similar type", that's why i feel this way. I got shot down, they got shot down, it depends.

Now, if you ask me, I "fear" pilots not on their flying ability but on their ability to shoot. those are the ones I would name. As far as i'm concerned, I may outfly someone and get the advantage but 90% of the time I will miss my shot and eventually end up loosing my advantage.

Hblair, Shane, Ra, Sancho, Ammo, Nath, Fester, Mitsu, Manx, Akak, Levi are the true aces. Man, if you end up in their nose cone, you are done. You can totally black out on a high G turn while doing rolling scizors at 700y and you ear "ping ping ping" till the fatal "crack". Coupled to this they are tight on the ACM and plane handling, meaning no margin for mistakes, and whatever advantage ur plane has, u better use it because their know how to use their plane advantage too.

Any1 feel the same?:D

Thanks for the kind words Frenchy. I always have a great time fighting guys like yourself, your squad and the true great sticks in the game. I have to admit that I'm not really in the same league as those listed though, but eventually would like to know 1/2 of what you guys know with 1/4 the consistency you all fly it with. I'll keep practicing it though. I agree totally with some of the picks in this thread, but would like to add 4 more pilots that always fight hard.

LA7 - CapnMike and Pirate combo
110 - Mn7
Tenacity - Mog (great sportsman, and a hard working "team" player in everything he flys. He always goes looking for a fight).

Wow!  To be mentioned along with those guys is indeed an honor and I thank you Frenchy.  Like Manx, I too feel that I'm kind of out of my league compared to that list.  If I knew half of the stuff Levi does, or how Shane reverses so fast or how hblair rolls his turns so tightly, then I think I could stand amongst those guys with equal footing.  It also helps that fighting against those guys and yourself forces me to fly at my best and I know when I lose it's because I was just plain out flown and nothing else and win or lose, those are the best type of fights.   Frenchy :)

no contest.
drex is the best in all planes.  hoollign is not far behind.   neither of them will ever be "ranked" very high score wise but if you've fought em..... you know that score means nothing.    Both of those guys thrive on looking helpless and low to draw in the guys who think cherry picking is "skill"..   The first step in dying to one of these guys is getting behind em with an e advantage and a superior plane.   that is my definition of "good".

There are a lot of extremely good pilots in the BK's but none that care about score much.   Wish I were half as good as most of em including apache and the x men (xd and xm)..   We got no missions and we got no titles...  We just have fun cause well.... we are just better pilots and ... well.. better human beings than you.

I see a lot of "who is the best" comments, in threads. In the original N1k2 (the FM you actually had to fly) Mit was, hands down, the best. Just a  FWIW

Hmm I have 94 kills in the ki61 this tour.  Yet this plane is very rarely flown.  Instead of naming the top planes why not name the lower end planes and their pilots?

I will never forget the day I fought you in a 109G6 HB, you were flying a G10, I had just nailed one of your comrades flying a Spit,

I flew over to you and what insued was a wild fight that ended up with me running like the poor teen girl in a Jason movie.

There was no escape.

"ended up with me running like the poor teen girl in a Jason movie. "

So what you're saying is you  tripped and fell down for no apparent reason?
