Here's thought that I have had for a bit now that is intended to make AA base defense a more human oriented activity. In short it is to make AA a mission.
It has several bits to it....
A) Add a few 303 MG emplacements to fields and towns to allow more ground defenders to have fun at the same time while not making the bases unapproachable.
B) Make all guns at a base/town/field manable by either humans or AI. If the gun is not human manned then the AI takes over.
C) Add an "AA" mission type that can be joined at any time. A system message would be generated once when the mission is posted.
D) Have the system automatically post this mission for an airfield anytime a JABO approaches to within 12 miles of a base/town/field and then delete the mission when the JABO is gone.
E) Reduce the lethality of a given gun by at least 50% when operated by AI or add a random error factor to the amount of lead the AI calculates.
Couple other related items that might grow out of this:
1) Can't see any reason ship guns would not work this way too.
2) The auto mission post could work with vehicle gunners as well provided that the pilot/driver had the option of disabling it if he did not desire a gunner or wanted to be able to choose his gunner.
