Title: Last Night before Rook Reset
Post by: Nefarious on July 01, 2002, 11:09:29 AM
Shortly after Alpha 12 was stolen back by Knight forces, Hundreds of Rooks were upping from Alpha 11. Over Range Channel I hear calls of enemy GV's approaching form the South West.

I flew over there to count no less than 25 GV's!!

Flying through the mess to strafe and deliver rockets reminded me of Apocalypse now during the chopper attack! Calls of Distress from friendlies added to the immersion. The morning light made the tracers from the osties and M3's look even more deadly.

Awesome! to the knights for a last ditch Ground Offensive that was only delaying the inetivable.

Rooks, you finally got that island map reset?

Friday night was down to 5 bases for knights at one point, Saturday was down to 3 bases and by Saturday night the knights had gained up to 27 bases. Didn't play yesterday, but glad to see that map reset.

Usually I salute the victors but in this case my hat is off to the Knights.  What an pounding you guys took, for days and you didn't give up.  The rooks and bish both had you virtually in the bag on 2 or 3 occasions and still you fought your way back.  Major league, BIG time SALUTE to all of you.  I'm proud to call you my enemy. (in cyberland anyway)

I also have to tip my hats to the Knights for last night's (pardon the pun) defense. In, my opinion, you really did yourselves proud. The RJO Operation Crusade had been planned for about a week (although the exact country we were targeting was not picked till 8 pm EST last night) which allowed us to field as many pilots as we did last night (220+ Rooks just don't show up without some prompting).

We hit your defense with a good 180 guys (others were holding the Bishop front) to your 110+ at peak times and you guys fought it out with guts and determination. I did not see your numbers fold at any time even at the bitter end. Even more impressive was that you kept launching counter attacks trying to sieze bases back and you actually did sieze back P14 for a short period and A12 permanently.

The two part counterattack you guys conducted on A11 last night was my favorite .. the first part aerial attack and then the second part massive GV attack was a blast countering.

You really kept me on my toes last night and gave all of us Rooks a very fun night. And your dogged defense of A12 at the very was nothing short of a blast and a good reflection of your fighting spirit and what AH is all about.

I salute you all and thanks for the 3 hours of fun (strategic challenges) you gave me .. it made my time sitting on the ground so enjoyable that I did not mind not flying at all but enjoyed watching the map and CiCing.

Last Night was pretty Special.

The Knight Defensive was well fought.   I didnt see must of the Action on that border thou.

I spent my night commanding the Bishop Flank.  The Bishops up there had us on our toes also.  They had sound tactics given the situation.   I saw a couple well timed Typhoon Raids, the one to 49 was sucessful.    They fought hard and really gave us alot to do.   We traded bases back and forth till the bitter end, when most defense pulled out to crush the Knights.

My compliments to GhostDancer for a well lead campaign and to all the rooks for the efforts.

I was impressed with the fact that we had double the number of Knights and out numbered the Bishops and Knights together and still had to fight tooth and Nail to force the reset.   So much for the Numbers argument.

--A Side Note--
To my old friend "Sir Loin of Beef"   Sir, You shot me down! ;)  Well done!

It was a Grand night all in all.   One to Remember.

WTG!!!!     ODM!!!!

I really cannot add much to what these guys have posted...

But I too want to snap a crisp salute to the Knights last nite...
Not only did you defend vigorusly... You defended wisely...
It took us ( ROOKS ) 3 hours to accomplish what I had estimated to take one hour...

The counterstrike at A11 was one of the greatest battles I have been in since coming to Aces High...  The multiple GV attack was simply awsome...

Salute to All

We lost the island map?  How??? When???
When I logged off sun 12am pac time we had fought all the way back to rooks mainland and we had lead is bases. I took over running ops for the maw at about 9PM pac time sat. We took a couple bases on our main land then when the time was right I lead us to furball island and took 22 an hour later we had all but a43.  I then lead the maw up tru 50 52 53 51. Taking all before I logged. Big =S= to the marines on ops you guys did great.

We must've lost it sometime Sunday early afternoon, because it was reset when I logged on Sunday 5pm Eastern.

With all the energy we expended, we still couldn't hold our land.  Guess that makes a good argument that something should be done to equalize the numbers.  It gets tiring to log on and only have 5 or 6 bases, all smoking, to choose from.

We almost got out of it again too.  If the bish hadn't killed the bomber hangars at 17 right before the final rook onslaught we would have captured 18, same way we got out of it when we where down to 3 bases on friday?/saturday?  It was that bish major attack on 17 that made it indefensible against the rooks, although I tried.  I was that last LA7 in with your goons and troops as you were takin 17.  So many tgts, would black out and still pull the trigger anyway :)

One question tho...where on earth did you rooks hide that cv from 14??  Spent a good couple of hours on saturday night playing "sink the bismarck".   Had a couple of fun missions with Kid, the most memorable being NOE JU88's with torps.  We found a cv eventually, but not the right one I don't think.

Oh well

i remember after A12 fell...I went to the tower at 16 and realized we can spawn GV's next to A12, It was dark out and I thought "hey we could sneak in to A12 with M3's???" so I got on the Country channel and blared out that fact... few minutes later 4 of us were puttin on our way... Never in a million years did I ever consider we would take A12 back...
Amazingly enough on the Knights channel nobody was complaining about the pounding, I think we were all enjoying the challenge.... And actually everyone was Check 6ing and calling contacts like one huge Squad...

That was a pretty severe pounding we was getting too!!

I am a rook, have always been a rook in my short AH virtual career. But, last night was the best bloody time I have had in the last 4 months.

Please accept my personal for a great defensive-offensive action Knights.

The ground vehicle battle was in effect the best I have ever seen.

It was truely a snapshot of the tank battles that occured in WWII between Nazi Germany and the USSR. It was a sight to behold and almost realistic enough to immerse one in another era.

Oh man, I was there when you got it.  I was sitting in the tower at 12 between flights, wondering "what the heck keeps exploding?"  (I'm using Mitsu's sounds and the explosions are pretty loud)  I looked around and saw a flicker of movement near the VH...yelled on ch 2 "GVS AT 12!!" and jumped into an Osty.  I got a couple hundred meters from the VH when the field switched--since you were at the town, not the VH. :(  That was a fantastic sneak job!

The mass GV attack on 11 was awesome, I wish I'd gotten some screenshots (I sure hope someone got screenies or film).  Country vox channel was hilarious...

"buncha GVs south of 11, guys"
"lots of 'em down here, I'd say ten"
(I fly over in my Tiffie) "I count no fewer than fifteen"
(in reply) "Try twenty"

Got 7 kills in a rocket-armed Typhoon before trying to rtb.  Dodged a million shots gunning soft-skinned LVTs and M3s and rocketing Flaks and Panzers and didn't take a ping...then lost a wing to a freak 1000+ yard shot on my way out after my last pass.

WTG rooks for getting the reset, and a huge WTG to the knights for tenacious and smart defense!

I'm pretty sure that was the Flying Tigers AVG from Rookland that took out all the Hangars at A17, about 20 minutes before the Reset.  They were on a high-altitude secondary base buff sweep, and called all the Hangars down after their pass.  Like I said last night, that defense by the Knights was one of the best I've seen in Aces High or Air Warrior.

Salute Knights!!!

Cya Up!

Well I beleive a huge Salute to the Rooks is in order. It was a well earned victory. three days till the battle was over. back and fouth, back and fouth, the Rooks, Bishops, and the Knights must all be letting there goverments run the milatry, how else could it go back and fouth so much.

I just have one queston for the Rooks,  Who the Hell took my beer I had stashed at A15.

Once again, Salute to a great victory Rooks.
