Title: Look for full use of new planes this weekend
Post by: Sabre on July 03, 2002, 09:43:20 AM
I think it's safe to say the CT staff will make full use of the new planeset for this Friday's CT set up.  I'm leaning towards a 1942 PTO set up, but the Med set up HFMudd suggests in his post is a strong contender.  I've got a feeling I won't get much yardwork done this weekend.

While my heart beats for the Med, I would suspect that an early PTO that makes use of the F4F, PingBoom!Zeke (tm) and dive bombers would have a greater draw overall.

Whatever you choose to go with, I'll be there.

New planes and the PTO sound like a winner. :D

we lack a terrain to do any early historical PTO setups at the moment.

ndisles could be used (yuck! hehe)

Philippines could be used in a what if setup (what if the US was on the offensive from the get go and reached the Philippines in '42 instead of '44)

those are the CV friendly terrains just off the top of my head for a PTO event.

A Med setup would not get to take the IJN new planes, but the Wildcat, Dauntless, Warhawk and probably even the Boston could be used in the Tunisia terrain.

Had MacAuthor done a better job of directing the preparation and defense of the Philippines, the Allies might have hung onto it.  In which case the "what-if" scenario could be that the Allies hold on long enough for reinforcements to arrive (As I remember, there was actually a relief convoy dispatched, but it was recalled when it became apparent it would be too little, too late).  Still, there are issues with the Philippines terrain that make it less than suitable for the CT, let alone this scenario.  The Ndiles, properly set up, could at least give a feel for this time period.

yeah, that's true.  ya gotta remember my setup thinking comes from TOD experiences, which are similar, yet still vastly different.    (hehe, just replying here instead of also in the CM Terrain forum.)

I dont know about the rest of you, but I am going on vacation till sunday.  I hope you guys have good numbers.

With the pizza in ma, you might get a large crowd.  I would do a very attractive setup for recruiting.  Make sure you use a good fps map and get everything nice and smooooooth...........

Attractive map, with excellent frame rates?  That's Perdonia, without doubt.
