The only P40 I have to judge it by is the one I flew in AW. That one was a dog in all except the dive.

I was surprised by the E retention of our new P40. It does hold it well but when it's gone, if you don't have some alt, you're gone too.:)

Fly it like an F4U. Come in with a bunch of E, don't deviate from your line alot, then get the hell out. Stick around, and you'll die. ;)

Ah, yes, almost forgot. Excellent view forward for deflection shots.:D

I second what Weave said.  It holds E pretty well, dives fantastic (though I haven't really pushed it to see what it'll do at 350+ yet) and handles very nicely in all axes at above 225ish mph.  Do not get slow in it--it gets mushy at low speed and the roll rate goes away.  It doesn't have the power to accelerate out of a bad situation, so always leave yourself some margin to dive out.

The F4U analogy's pretty good.  Seems to me the P-40E is similar in that it has a good enough immediate turn that you might feel like you can furball...don't.  Once you blow your energy you're roadkill--this ain't no La-7 that can power its way out of trouble.  And it bleeds speed BAD if you turn it hard.

One other thing--both versions seem to have amazing rudder authority.  You can really slam the nose around using the pedals, but you'll bleed off a ton of speed doing it.  Might be handy in some situations or to position for that final shot.

P-40 is the dog it should be... I am extremely happy with it :)

Thank you HTC, for 1.10 and especially the P-40B!

I agree with you guys fully.  A wonderful experience flying both models.    Mega personality in the fm.  Just one thing I noticed.  It gets really really ufo like stall fighting at about 100 mph.  Doesnt really do amazing things, but it feels like its doing more than it should.  Like it should be stalling but it is not.

The cockpits are wonderful and the landing gear rotates to fit in its bays..the P40 has a pilot tube on the wing...

The P-40 rolls a lot faster than I expected it to..

I think it's only a small bit slower than the Corsair at exactly 300mph...

The P-40 was a quick roller in real life, at least the original one was.  I believe the P-40F (or E) was tested and topped out at 90 something DPS, but I think they were only using 30 pounds of force on the stick.

I like it, btw.  I haven't flown the P-40E yet, but the P-40B feels a lot like a 109F to me.  Of course, I'm flying like crap because I got a new X-45 that is about 1000x stiffer than my old X-36 was.

The A6M2 is a REAL gem, I love that plane :).

I'm impressed with the p 40 e  its modeled nicely . and flys better then expected ... it has a great flap turn ability . (it may even out turn the Hurricane)
starts to compress alittle at 430 in a dive and at 450 it still  can be pulled  out without becoming a lawndart  . (with elevator trim )
now the plane does bleed of E quickly and turnfights at a slower speed then a spit . And in a early war plane set it will be a terror .
I feel its up to quality for what the plane is !  Great job

was in a P-40E, got 2 zekes on my six on the deck, entered a sccisors fight (this baby handles well slow!) and got a lucky snapshot on one guy and the other guy augered (to my luck! he almost got me :D)

I think I like it, but I'll withhold judgment until after the warp goes away. Today was awful in that regard. With all of that I went through ammo rapidly in the P-40E.

I Love the p40e art work. they did a great job on the cockpit.

But its a sitting duck for everything everybody usually flys. You can usually get out  of the way of p51's and such planes but they will be back for a few more passes.  Died alot in it probably because of the terrain. i was flying it at 20000ft. not good for a p40. It dives well got a p51b with it on deck i believe deck was about 10000ft LOL.

They really did a great job on cockpit IMHO.
