Recently I upgraded my system.
My Joystick no longer works with it.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q236113
It's a twisty stick.
Can you recommend a stick that is twisty and works well or a combo of stick and pedals.
I have small hands and weak wrists so anything with spring tension will not do it for me. I need something small and easy with very little play in the center and a hat.

I'm still using 3-4 years old MS Sidewinder Precision Pro. Optical stick; no potentiometers to worry about.
I've also tried Saitek Cyborg and my other stick is MS FF Pro thought I still like more this old one.

Thanks Staga,
Do you find the SPPro to have alot of bounce? or is it pretty stable?

The best bang for the Buck IMO is the Saitek X36 USB. You can get them rebuilt direct from Saitek for 39.00 pluss shipping.

I'm not really worried about bang for the buck....
I need something that fits me perfectly that I'm not going to throw thru the window after trying to use it for 5 hours.

Saitek Cyborg 3D has a better feel to it than the MS twisty stick IMO

I was just looking here:
http://www6.tomshardware.com/consumer/01q4/011109/joystick-02.html
and crossing that with what computer stores are available to me in the area...cause I'd like to go out and buy one today instead of ordering one and having it delivered.
I think there are only BestBuy and Compusa near (can't wait for dern Fry's to get here)
And the CompUSA looks like it holds both the Saitek Cyborg and the microsoft series of joysticks.
The Cyborg being allen key adjustable is a real plus since I'm so finicky.
The one bad point about my old stick is that it has developed alot of play in the center and it can basically just kinda fall to the side and roll my plane into a deadly dive.
I will be going to CompUSA and testing out the cyborg
and the precision pro to see how they are against each other...
It's really too bad they don't have a wider base, it looks like they are gonna get pushed around on the desktop and I don't want to have a big strip of silver duct-tape across my desk. :D
I need to build a desk-clamping lamp-arm type of stick holder that tension screws into place
yah  .......anyhow off to the store...thanks for the RL tested reviews.

I have been running the ms sidewinders for several years. They are easy to set up and last a long time. The twisty sticks are bouncier than a rig with rudder pedals, but wth, they are compact and reliable (rudder pedals, hmm:rolleyes: maybe next year). With the twisty sticks it is imperative that you calibrate the stick scaling to minimize rudder induced bounce. As far as feel goes, the ms stick is has worked great for me, but I have big hands. I do like the saitek stick due to the ability to adjust the palm rest higher or lower to fit your hands. Try them both, see which one fits your grip better. Good luck!

while I enjoyed my saitek X45 for a time.......I recently had some problems with it and sent many un-answered E-mails to there tech support.....I made the long distance call to there tech. support and ended up hanging up on the guy because he seemed to know nothing about there products and he could not even keep staite in his mind what product I was calling about (told him six times). There website has a very limited amount of info. and software updates are promised but never seem to come out....for this reason I would steer you away from the Saitek products unless you feel confident that you will never have any problems with it
