Title: FLCS file loading
Post by: CavemanJ on July 07, 2002, 11:33:51 AM
Apparently something's screwed up when I try to load another .b50 file into my F-16 FLCS.  Maybe it has something to do with me still using b50load in a dos window :D

It gives the line about switching the switch to download and hitting Enter.  Do that and get the one for hitting S1 and releasing it and then waiting.  The status bar for loading the file comes up, and that's where it apparently stops.  Let it sit for ~15min at this point while I got the boys up and changed this  morning.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Guess it's just another indicator that it's time for a new stick, since this one has been crapping out for the last several months :D

If the buttons still seem to be functioning well and there isn't much slop in the stick... I'd recommend upgrading to the digital chips.

How long have you had the FLCS?

I've had it so long I can't remember when I got it.  I'm thinking since late 96?  And it's seen alot of hard use in those years :D

The buttons work for the most part.  Sometimes (and with increasing frequency) I have to pull the stick to left or the button presses don't register.  The biggest annoyance is when it decides it's gonna rapidly scroll through everything programmed to the buttons.  This has caused several spin outs into terrain during a low alt fangs out stall fight.  Takes flipping the switch to download then back to run, then taping the ctrl, alt, and shift keys (to make sure the puter doesn't think one is being held), then hitting S1 to 'wake up' the stick again.

Course all that being said, the problem should be solved as I'm getting an FLCS/TQS from a squaddie who has gotten himself a Cougar (the lucky dog).

If you get a new stick I might like to buy your old F-16 for parts.
