I don't know about anyone else, but I think it's high time the GVs got a bit of refinement. Maybe the next version can be dedicated to getting the GVs up to par with the rest of the game. For example: Was defending a base in a Pnzr today, when a M3 popped up over the ridge. I put 2 75mm AP rounds into him before he saw me. He keeps going, and starts pelting me with .50cal. This M3 totally disables my Pnzr in 10 seconds with a .50cal. Both tracks gone, both guns disabled, smoking like hell. Meantime, he goes rolling merrily along like nothing happened.
Please consider re-vamping the GVs next version. They are a big wart on an otherwise awesome game.

yeah, good idea, but a you should use 75mm HE to kill m16s, m3s

If only HT could type faster !!!
anyhow I agree the GV damage model needs a tweak or two and a Sherman, T34, Jeep (rat patrol!!!!) and some real infantry guys ..

I die in m3 with only one shot from 75mm, infact I die in flaks (even frontal shots) in 2 maybe 3 max hits ...so what gives here?
Also I've killed a flak with an m3 once from the rear, still took all but about 50 rounds to kill the thing.

It's not the typeing that takes the time. It's reading what I type that takes forever.:)

I have had some weird kill situations in Panzers.
Today I was on top of a hill over looking a VH. Saw a Panzer sitting in front of it and hit it with a 75MM AP from about D2.5 at a down angle with no visible damage. He returns fire hits me with one shot and Im back in the hanger.
BTW his shot hit me square in the front of my tank.
Also when are we going to get more GV's??

Hear hear!! This similar situation happened to me just before the switch to 1.10. An M3 took out my panzer from the front with his .50 cal...perhaps he had a few bazooka/panzershreckpanzerfaust teams on board!? lol
Two other GV improvements (mentioned many times in earlier posts):
1. Turret to hull orientation. Use a wire-mesh top view showing postion of turret relative to hull or a clock position in the turret view (hull would always be at 12 oclock)
2. An indication of a GV being hull-down (visual, text, etc.).

I just had an ostwind take out my turret and top gun in a panzer at 134 meters in 3 seconds. While my 75mm AP was bouncing skyward off his nose. He had already taken 6 shots disabling his turret and engine. But his little .30 cal puttputter knocks out my tank. Gameplay considerations? quakers wanna see stuff go boom when they shoot? Ever try to knock out a plane with the .30s on 109s and the ju88, gotta light them up forever. Even the 4x+ .30s on the spits an hurris, take long seconds to damage anything. Had a tank kill my typh after a few pings with his top gun. I killed a c47 yesterday with about 15 hits from an m8s top gun, while first time I flew a FM-2 with 4x .50 it took a 3 sec tracking shot to damage another f4f. GVs are quite annoying most of the time,this map makes em worse with its ridiculous placement of spawnpoints, some withen 1k of the enemy field, in ack range for goodness sakes!

Just happened again, I nail ostwind with 6 shots at 2KM, he sprays and Im disabled right quick. This sucks bigtime, panzers are quite useless. I got an idea how to fix it, just add 10 troops to ostwind and delete the others, the ostwind is all we need!

After reading HT's response to another thread like this a month or so ago I decided to change my GV tactics. Now I'm maneuver to a position outside of my targets 10o'c-2o'c arch laying smoke if needed to get into position. My first hit kill ratio has gone up on m8's Ostys and other panzers using this method. The problem with this map creates is there is often either not enough time to position yourself good because of the close spawn points or the canyons are too narrow to maneuver for the high kill percentage shot.
Having a gun that will shoot 5k yds acurately is of little use if Ostys and halftracks can spawn within 2k of your base.

as far as killing turrets with pintle gun.. next time you have a chance look closely at the flashes of your hits on the enemy's different parts of his tank. you will see the flash get bigger in certain areas. these are critical spots and inflict more damage quickly. i have found where to disable a turret of fp or panzer with just hull gun in 40 rounds or so. i suspect some of us are running higher resolution video and are able to pinpoint the shots better.

yes all this is true as ive had experience in both ends of this........in a panzer and a banana in a lvt popped my turred and treads......and when i was in m3.......quick burst in turret effectivly negates a panzers ability to fight....leaving him with little to use....i agree with all of you....GV's need fixing

tracer,, i wasn't saying it needs change like all these others...
with time and patience all can learn what i've learned. ( i;ve been online since feb. this year and still know all this) unfortunenatly we cant practice gv stuff offline... so be patient and pay attention and u too can become one of those hated gv masters:D

JB73...you're missing the point of the original post. You shouldn't have to learn the "sweet spot" to disable a Panzer with a machine gun. The damage models should be fixed to make unrealistic crap like that not possible.
I just think that with the quality of the rest of the game, the GVs need a little attention.

A week or so ago, i think i saw HT either post.. or state in the MA that no new planes had been started for 1.11.
We know he has been planning more GV's for one of the next releases... sooo mebbe 1.11 is going to be a GV/sub release +)
no new planes perhaps means subs and/or gv's have been started
