Last night I was flying a B-17 with a gunner. When we were shot down we bailed, on the way down my system locked up solid, had to pull the power plug. This has never occurred before in the past 8 months. My gunner successfully bailed out.
20 minutes later I was the gunner in his plane. We were shot down and bailed out. This time I had no problem, but my squadmate (the pilot) had his system lock up solid, he had to pull the power cord too.
We were flying b-17's in 3 plane formation. It only happened to the pilots. :(
