I was in a tempest, having a nice sortie, I dove on a La7 from about 19k to 16k... I picked up some speed, no creaking or anything and just straight up exploded. Not sure as to the speed I was goin because I was taking the shot, I'm sure pretty fast (although throttle was cut, probably was in a 70 degree dive).
Never happened to me before, wings ripped off sure, but never just BOOM back in the tower. Is this normal or a bug? The La7 was LLB, he never fired a shot and he got the proximity kill on me, so it wasn't some wierd lag thing.
LLB thought it was as strange as I did.

I had my landing gear collapse for absolutely no reason once.

I've had it happen twice, same type of incident. One was over nmes roughly 10k agl.......that could have been an nme that actually got a shot, but I don't think so as got the message "you have been killed" and nobody got credit for shot.
Other one was clearly not the result of nme action.......flying 16k over water, went into shallow dive (dots on deck on horizon) and plane blew...speed was 375 or so in 51D, no ack, no nme, just a message that said "you have been killed" no nme got a kill rewarded.
Certainly I have been bounced several times but in the past I have always had the message telling me who shot me. Thought it was kinda wierd.

thats the cariac arrest/massive stroke part of the software

I've heard of a few people complaining about this... and I've had it happen once. Just a bamm then back to the tower. Nobody was near me when it happened to me. Nobody received credit for the kill either.

Was there a CV around? I've popped a few folks at... well the only description I can think of is "Ludicrous Range" lol Lucky shots really but it can be done.

i have had my plane explode 3 times
once chasing a goon down as soon as i got to icon range boom i was back in the tower. No kill msg awarded.
msg was "You have been killed"
second time I was in an Arado on the island map at 15k south of a17 rtn after dropping the vh at the port near a19. No a con within a sector of me. Boom back in tower same msg as above.
last time I was in a 190f8 on the baltic map up from a51 to v10 at 10k auto climb boom back in twr same msg as above.
The 3 events were over a 5 - 6 month period.
Seems more like a colision then anything to me. The instant back in tower with a quick "boom".
Dunno. My squad mate posted a film of his 262 just exploding in the same way I described above.

Well at least I'm not the only one :). Tumor, it wasn't a CV gun beacuse the La7 I was chasing got credit for a proximity kill. I think Wotan has it, I was diving hard on this La7, I blew up at around d250 from him. I think lag caused the server to see it as a collision :/.

The server does not see collisions... your FE sees the collision and tells the server.
I'd tend not to believe it was this because if it was a collision related item, a proximity kill would always be awarded. I'd also tend to not believe it was ship/shore guns for the same reason you cited... not credit for the kill was awarded to the gunner.
Seems like its just a bug that causes your plane to explode. The good thing is... it rarely happens. The bad thing is... it rarely happens (try to troubleshoot a ghost).
