Very early this morning our company made a run to Jacksonville, Fl. with a very rich client and surveyed some land from the air before returning home. During the return our pilot recognized two aircraft sitting in what he thought was a dump, or junkyard.
A SkyRaider, and an F4U-1C, or so he says. I used to live there, and seem to recall having seen the nose of a Hog behind a concrete wall. Anyone in the area could check it out. It's just east of the intersection of Blanding Blvd. (or whatever Bland. Blvd is called that far north) and 103rd St. (about one-half mile on the north side).
If, you are able to visit the spot, let me know what you find, please.

The same 103rd St. that ran in front of NAS Cecil Field?
(Stationed at Cecil Field for 4 years with VS-32 in the early 80's)

The one and only, Milenko. :D
We used to have a lot of the F-18 guys stop in at the Gateway R/C club, about half-way between Cecil and the bypass. They used to have some great Open House events and Airshows at Cecil. Yeah, I was there about the same time as you (1980-1985). I wish I could remember the names of some of those guys.
The SkyRaider and Hog were there even then, and my brother reminded me yesterday that the same junkyard had an A4 Skyhawk, as well.

voss Cecil field had several Navy planes out in front in a display before they closed. I drove out there Sunday but didnt find a junk yard from the road.
I didnt turn into the old Cecil field enterance where the display used to be. I'll head back out there this saturday and see.

Wrong direction, Wotan. Instead of turning west from highway 295, turn east and go past the Pizza Inn (intersection of Blanding Blvd and 103rd St). At any rate, you should see it long before you get to Roosevelt Avenue (Hwy 17). Actually, there's a bridge over one of the St. John's tributary's even before that, and you should see it before the bridge.
