Title: More Strategy + More Control = A mission based system
Post by: HaHa on January 29, 2000, 01:37:00 PM
I was stumbling around the Internet earlier and came across MS's new beta game "Allegiance". I downloaded it and started play.. the graphics are ok, the ships are blah but you know whats really cool..the mission based system.

People can pilot fighters/bombers whatever and they are given orders (although they dont have to follow the orders) by a commander. The commander is responsible for:

allocating research, buying new ships, and building bases

Something like this would be so very nice for AH. If we had a ranking/point system people would gain more responsibilities (sounds like wwIIo doesn't it  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)) once your at a certain level you can:

- purchase fighters/bombers (i.e. plane attrition IS implemented)
- set mission plans for different planes you see on the map (i.e. attack field f4, defend HaHa's c47  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) etc..)
- decide what aircraft should be sent to what bases for reinforcements.. "enhance?" bases with bigger/better ack  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Different commanders on the same side could be responsible for different sectors. This is "similar" to wwIIo except it doesn't try to do "everything".. it just makes the game a hell of a lot more fun, organized and adds some seriously needed strategy/mission elements. Imagine what could be planned, 20xspits flying in formation to a common target, 5xb17+10xescorts bombing the smitherenes out of countries, huge groups of fighters duking it out in the skies.
