You lucky!
If I had one I should run myself with that thing!:D

It's a veritable Mark-I epidemic! Nice.
-
Bloody hell what have I started here :) Nice job muck, even nicer paintwork WTFG!
-
Thanks Rev-
I'm surprised it came out as solid as it did. As I was going through the process, I kept thinking, "How the hell is this thing going to connect to this piece here..."
But was all was said and done, it came together.
I tested it out last night, and it really, REALLY adds to the immersion, and is very comfortable when flying.
I highly recommend this set up for any serious flight simmer.
(BTW, decals are a piece of cake. I just went to some websights, cut and pasted the ones I wanted, and printed them on photo quality paper, and used a spray adhesive to stick them on. Looks just like a paintjob!)
And yes...MY WIFE HATES IT!!!!

The matching black keyboard and monitor complete that cockpit. good job.
-
Speaking of beer holder and mouse pad, can someone post the pics of their seat again? Mine is about ready for sanding and painting, but I want another look at those items. Can't remember the link or who posted them, so I can't search myself...
Thanks!

Henh.
Says 'NO STEP"...
You pole-vault to get inta that thing?
;)
Looks great. Add a coin slot and haul it down to the supermarket, you'll make a fortune.
:D

Is that just plywood? Where did you get the cut diagram? Did you have to own cutting tools I presume? I would LOVE to get one of those bad boys made, but have no idea hwo to go about doing it...

My father-in-law is a carpenter, and has a workshop full of every tool I could ever want. I did most of the cutting I needed with a bandsaw and circular saw, but there were places where a jigsaw was handy. You could do it with hand saws, but it would take longer. I am at the stage where I am adding modifications and such, and preparing to sand, fill, and sand again.
Yes, it is plywood. Make sure you get AC quality, so that the surface is already sanded and nearly finished. This is more expensive but will save you time. I bought 9/16s and have done just fine. I probably have about 12 hours in it between drawing out the parts and cutting them.
-
My Sqyaddie, Slapshot has the schematics for it. He has them down so the entire piece can be made from 2 4ft by 4ft sheets of 5/8" thick plywood. ( I bought double sanded to save time)
Slapshot also has the plans in both Metric, and...uh...English Measurements. The wood cost $25 a sheet (You can go cheaper for alower grade). Then there is foam, Seat covering, Paint, and Contact paper. All told, The job cost me $125, but knowing what I know now, I can do it for $75-100.
I'm not thrilled with the plans, though. The piece was designed to be portable, and uses no screws. I changed mine, as I don't carry it around, and wanted a sleeker look.
As for the "No Step" Question...thats for my 2 year old daughter, who can't read. Makes alot of sense, huh?

i made one of these 2 years ago. but 2 things a) i always felt silly when women came over. my girlfriend used to make fun of me, especially if she came in while i had the headset on and was talking to those jokers the assassins. b) when i moved it was too big a pain to bring with me.
was pretty cool tho.

I finished mine up Saturday. "Rising Sun", all white with red meatballs, and red upholstered seat. My son is enjoying it immensely and egonomically, its very nice on my arthritic shoulder. My wife thinks we're crazy, but hey, we're boys! ;)
Soon as my USB cable for my camera gets here, I'll get some shots up.

Outstanding job.I would love plans on something like that.I run Nascar simulators so it would be perfect with slight mods for the steering wheel.Anyone with copys of the plans please send them to me at Gustav109@earthlink.net.:)

Ah, in centimeters...anything with bigger plans?
-
Bigger plans? This thing fits my 6' 200lb. body just fine, matter of fact, it could easily fit a 300 lber.
I just took the CM's and went to a web translater, and changed them from CM to inches. took about 15 min.
To save you some time of adding it all up, you'll need 2 sheets of 4 X 8 -- 5/8" plywood.

LOOK! He has a BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH! MWAHAHAHAHA.

To be quite honest, it is easier to work in metrics than standard anyway. Get yourself a metric straight edge and go to it.

Home Depot, where I live, didn't have them :(
-
I found the metric system to be much easier too.
I just made my measurements with the metric side of my tape measure, and made the lines with a regular straight edge.
I know it's an extra step, but you have to remember who your talking to here.
-
Do any of you guys remember G-LOC? and if you do, do you remember the special G-LOC R-360 cabinet?, the one where you could go upside down and loop and had to be strapped in.
Well if you could find one and adapt it for AH now that would be the daddy of setups :D
only prob would be electricity bill and the space for it :D
-
Rip, I meant a bigger picture of the plans...not a bigger cockpit.
Well, what the heck, if I screw up, I just have more kindling wood!
-
LePaul-
There isn't a single compound curve in the whole thing. If you have any modeling experience at all, this is a piece of cake. All you really need to draw it out is patience and a ruler. A square will help, but isn't necessary. I got everything on 2 4x8's with no trouble at all.
