Clouds weather was one of the coolest things about this game terrain/map wise. It is terribly missed and regardless of map under it - this game is not the same.
Not trying to stir the pot or troll a thread (and please dont turn it into that) - I really really just miss the clouds. That is all.
-
Check out the Burma terrain next time it appears in the CT.
We had the BEST kind of clouds - groups of cumulus large enough
to play Hide and Seek in/around.
It was fantaastic!
-
As I dont know, may I be silly enough to ask...Where did they go?
-
I would guess they just weren't incorporated into the current desert map... hopefully we will see them again in future maps - I loved them too.
-
i liked beening able to hid in them and fly though them
-
I miss the sheep more...:(

I believe weather can be turned on/off independent of the terrain. Suspect clouds are off in the current terrain due to the high elevation areas.
Ya know, this might just be a method of 'closing' some of the fields effectively making the map smaller.

Thats not how it works, there is an AH Weather editor which you must use to add clouds TO the map, not an option u can turn on and off, and yes I REALLY miss clounds & geographic maps :(

I have played around with the weather though it's been a long time. My point was that clouds could have been added (turned on) by HTC and yet they weren't. This was due to a reason and since I'm guessing, I'll guess it was as I mentioned, the high elevation fields.
-
altitude has nothing to do with it.
I live and work above 8,500 feet and there are plenty of clouds here.

Altitude has nothing to do with what? I believe that in Aces High cloud height is set for altitude above sea level and they don't adjust based on ground elevation. Unless they were set to be above 13k, some fields would be rendered unusable.

so you take off in a fog big deal! would make it hell on gv's, but that werks both ways
-
BAH, Who wouldn't get a kick out of trying to take off from a fogged in field? Or how about trying to vulch one? :D
-
the vulching would be funny , specially to the vuchee:D
-
yes!!! somone else thought about fog!!!
i posted a few ideas in the gameplay/feedback forum a while back about fog. wouldn't it make sense for coastal bases to be fogged in every now and again?
im guessing it would be very hard to model realistically like the "fog of war" in some other games around. (so that it obscures your view 1000 away but not right in front of you) it would aslo put a major hit on frame rates i think :(
but it still would be UBER COOL:D

Taking off would be easy enough, landing is a different story.
-
I've looked at clouds from both sides now, from up and down and still some how, I wonder why I can see nothing but plane dots and icons. If I fly into a cloud, I should see nothing, and no one should see me. Should gbe a more cat and mouse hide and seek game with clouds.
Boy the first part of that would make a good song, but then it falls flat.:)

hahaha lol vicker vicker vicker i think map sould be smaller its huge!i forgot about sheep i rember back in the (i dont think yall were playing ah then) but one day the sheep could shoot! they traveled around 90mph i had video of them they had twin 50 cals! it was so funny!

Only without ILS, MLS, or even precision approach radar.

Well, there were two 'value added' reasons that sold me on AH (again).....
1. Weather
2. Perked 262
And..... I just blew my 1 and only 200 perks.....
I am very disapointed that the new map has no weather or clouds. I LOVE clouds. In real life too.
The best flying experience I've had yet was when I was on a dual flight....
Beautiful patchwork of fields and greenery... broken cloud layer at 1500 feet..... flying between 2/3K.... another layer at 3000 feet....
Picked out a hole in the layer above... pulled vertical...zoomed upwards... punched through the hole and bunted over -'g at the top.... then back down through.
I want my AH clouds back.

Yeah, except they didn't land 0-0 back then. In fact, they rarely do it now.
-
Iron.. FWIW.. cloulds SHOULD be well above 13k for realism.
This pic is the kind of thing I was thinking about:
the mountain tops are at or above 14k. We rarely have 'low' clounds.. I.E. fog. This is a typical afternoon here.

I wasnt suggesting landing at socked in bases. I was saying
it would be real to have them.

w-w-rong........w-w-rong..........w-w-rong........
Cloudes can either be built into the map, or they can be placed into the terrain Dir

I agree, I like clouds too. Not sure why we left them out or why HTC didn't put them in, just speculating.

prolly too much whining about FR hits
