Heres the NTSB Recall website, (And yes, there have been recalls on BMW's, and just about every other car in the world! Though, the WRX, nothing yet!)

Pretty much like this:

My wheels are silver and I don't have the hoopty-wing or the hoopty-foglight-covers.

WHEW!~ (Hate that blue!)

ROTFL
What a ridiculous car is this ????
Do you dont have real cars there - like Mercedes, BMW, Porsche or Audi ?

We have them. But they are vastly overpriced here. You can get the same quality and performance for $15,000 less in a Japanese car. I guess we are paying for all those 6 week vacations that your factory workers get. :)

oh gawd... they posted the picture twice! Both me and the cat have gone blind!

That 'ridiculous car' has 227hp and does 0 - 60 in 5.5 seconds - all for under 25K.

I've seen Funked with my own eyes ... he cannot fit in this car. He may own it, but he certainly don't drive it.
-
Notice Frenchy, he did not post a picture of his car,..just a picture. Hehe,...once they took the doors off and the top, he was able to fit in it, but then they had to put in one front seat in the center....then he could sit in it. I hear it is a double-wide. LOL!

Theres no replacement for displacement.
Small blocks for small minds.

Yes we do and some of us have taste! Not knocking the WRX performance for the price...(dislike the interior)
Looking out of my office window I see 2 Ferrari's, 7 Porsches, 10-15 Mercedes/ BMW sedans, few Jags, 3 limo's and these are parked outside. If I go to the parking garage I'm sure I could find many more Porsches, a few more Ferrari's and maybe a Lambo or two.
I'll have my Audi TT 225Q at the Con, unless we need more space then it'll be my wifes Audi A4. :) Too bad my mods wont be on the TT before the con. :(

1st: It still looks like a frog which has been scared :D
2nd: A frog with golden wheels !!!!
3rd: Why do you care in other countries for the top-speed of your cars if you arent allowed to drive them at these speeds?
Here in Germany we have no tempo-limit on most parts of our highways - and I like it to test my Mercedes 300 CE on them :D
Btw - THIS is a car which is fast AND looks good.
;)
@Mox: The Audi TT is also a very fine car - although I dont like its behaviour in special curves at fast speed.
Also I dont like the brake-system of BMW - its a little bit too hard.
My brother has a BMW and I was glad to drive my car again.
But maybe he is right, when he said: "The Mercedes is a car for the old people..." ;)
-
Hehe,..Mox,..you work at ID Software by any chance? Sounds like thier parking lot. :D
-
lol :D Skuzzy
I had the same thought

LOL It's true.
But Audis are just rebadged, overpriced Volkswagens.
And VWs are junk. :)
I can't say anything too bad about BMW and Porsche though.
And Benz is the one German car that is worth the price. :)
-
I've owned Audi before, mine was junk, and undriveable by 65,000 miles, thought this *was* an Audi Fox. Just like a restaurant though, I won't go back...
Typically men (and their respective egos) are as such: Whatever they're currently driving, or whatever they cannot afford, IS the best automobile. :D

High speed stability is supposed to be fixed on the later models (Traction control was added and the small rear wing which I dislike). I haven't heard of any other wrecks except the one you speak of in Germany.
I've only had the TT for 3 months but so far I'm really liking it.

I wish I did! I work at the Crescent building in Dallas one of, if not the most expensive office buildings in Dallas (more expensive than any of the downtown buildings you see on TV). Across the courtyard from the office building is the Crescent Hotel (I think it's 4 star) where royalty, super stars, etc stay when they are in town.
My first day at work I parked next to a Lambo, I took pictures thinking it was a rare thing, now it's now big deal to see a Lambo everyday. I'm not sure what some of these people do in the Crescent but some of them come to work in Limo's occasionally.
-
Ahhh,, I know the Crescent. There is a bed and breafast near the hotel my wife and I got married in. Can't recall the name of it. Quaint place.
Yep,..big money in that area.
-
Babek said it best "The Mercedes is a car for the old people..."
I like Mercedes and I think I'll get me one when I'm 50+ years old. :D
The only BMW I'd own would be a M series!! I do like the looks of the 3 series coupes though. At least the TT's more rare, every 16 year old rich kid in Dallas has a 3 series.
-
Mercedes?.........just need too call a Taxi here in Germany, get a "Benz" and a driver.;)
-
Yes - these Taxi-Mercedes here in Germany are mostly in extreme good condition - so theoreticly you could enjoy it.
But also most of the drivers are turks or from other nations.
And because of their special honor-codex no other is allowed to be faster. After you survived such a horror-trip - you start to plan to buy your own Mercedes :D :D :D

Ok... I admit that I am missing the point but... you guys didn't do anything... you simply plunked down some money and are now arguying about what??? who plunked down the most money in the wisest way? Hope ya all got triple A in case a coil wire comes loose or somthin.. Isn't it embarassing to not be able to find the damn things in a parking lot or not be able to answer questions about em? what is first gears ratio? what camber/caster ya running..... why did u do it that way?
I know I am old fashioned but I have allways gotten a kick out of taking something that was not noted for performance and then making it better. I guess part of it was that in the old days I didn't have a lot of money and.... I have never liked new cars... not till they are 10-20 years old anyhow. I like to come out from the store or whatever and talk to the people that are standing by my car(s). "I had one just like that" is common or "what is that?" or even "man u sure ruined that car... when ya gonna finnish it.... "or simply "u pervert"

I did all repairs to my cars about 15 years; kinda nice to have one with warranty now so if it breaks I just pick up my cell-phone and call to dealer so they can bring me another one and pick my car to service.
I'm too f...ing old to change radiators etc in -20c temp.
-
Actually Lazs I started this thread and the other thread because I had a couple of slow mornings at work and I knew I could get Rip's attention with the thread title. I'm only interested in BMWs because Rip likes them so much and I know we could have some fun BSing if I forced him to defend the honor of the blue and white emblem.
I apologize for not sharing your fascination with homebuilt frankensteinmobiles. I get to do quite enough engineering at work. When I come home the last thing I want to do is have more technical problems to solve.
Also I take long road trips every summer. Like 5000 miles or so. Modern cars offer levels of comfort, safety, stability, reliability, etc. that antiques can not match. And if something goes wrong in the middle of BFE I know I can get parts and there will be a qualified repairman somewhere in the general area. I mean, I'd really like to see you drive the Penelope Pitstop car to the Con without something overheating or breaking or causing you severe discomfort. I don't have time for that toejam. It might be fun to have a second car like that, but I'm not in a position (financial or otherwise) to be owning multiple autos right now.
-
With new car you can keep your speed around 120mph (http://www.kolumbus.fi/staga/prov/images/Provinssi%202002%20087.jpg) for hours if you like, talk with your friends, turn air-conditioning little bit colder and listen music with reasonable volume without fear that your cyl-head gasket starts to leak in a middle of nowhere...
