Title: Best fighter/attack aircraft?
Post by: poppysead on July 17, 2002, 12:49:20 AM
So here it is. I have this strange urge at times to go take an airfield, and when I do i look for somthing fast that can almost level a town in 2 runs.Heres the question: whats the best ground pounder for smashing that sucker? with the introduction of the A20 I feel tempted to jump in it and take advantage of thos 8, five hundred pounders. But I find that if I get into a Mossie i  come back alive ALOT more often, and to tell you the truth I kinda dig being able to straif with those .20's when there arent many fighters around. thoughts? hate mail? send it

110G-2
Mossy
P-47D-30
F4U-1C
F4U-1D

I believe these to be the best at jabo duty.

My regards,

Depends on mission and situation. If your mission is town, and you suppose to kill it alone of with few friendlies, then:

110g2. It is not fast, but even in agressive environment you can survive long enough. With heavy gun load can get town alone, and can still kill couple of enemy fighters.

a20. Still need some time in this plane, but I think it is a good one is a calm places, or in packs.

Tiffie. My favorite ground attacker, but better get couple friends with you; tiffie can't get the whole town alone with its load.

p38. Very good attacker with heavy rocket/eggs load and good guns/ammo. Can climb, and carry it fast to target, which is good too.

p47d30. Has eggs/rocket punch close to a20, and more .50s. Takes forever to climb it while heavy though.

Hogs. D is not bad as a jabo, but C is the real leader. Eggs, rockets, 4 hispanos, and lot of ammunition. It is perked though.

Well, the only thing I can say about this map is that it was a nice change of pace for about a week but it is time for another change.
I do appreciate the AK's for putting thier time in making the map, but I do miss the green grass and the nice fights on the Baltic map.  I guess we can all complain as much a we want, but the fact is the map won't change until HT gets new maps ready.
I have found myself not logging on as much as I used to like most of the other guys, but I  keep on flying because this game is still going through it's growing pains.  As time goes on more patches, planes and maps will come out.  We just have to suck it up and be patient.  Hmmmmm, This may be the alchohol talking too.

I dunno if its the alcohol but your posting in the wrong thread. This one here's about attack aircraft.

A20g 8 x 500 lbs toejam load of ammo

110g2 2 x 500kg (2 x 1100) plus enough 2cm and 3cm rheinmetal to destroy a town.

p38

p47d30

any navy plane that has 2 x 1000lbs

even the p51d

I miss the sheep too..But what happened to the clouds? I know it's the desert, but since it looks like a pizza maybe it can rain beer.

not being the furball type, i'm spending alot of time doing the jabo thing. been trying out different a/c.

so far the jug stands out. 10 rocks and 7 x .50 x 850 rds. enough firepower to totally destroy a V-base and dang near flatten a city. takes punishment like no other plane. radial engine so no radiator to worry about. can defend itself or plenty of speed to bug out.

and i bug out alot  :D

I like the A20G for town smashing.  Does a right fine job of it, absorbs the ack on the first pass where ya kill all the guns, then one or 2 more (with careful bomb placement) the town is flat.  If ya weren't careful enough with your eggs you may have to go round once or twice and strafe down a building or two.

If you're expecting resistance better take a friend or two in fighters.  While you can continue your attack through any defense, if one gets saddled up on ya good you're toast.

Heavy Attackers:
Bf110G2, it brings the whole package of guns and bombs
Mossie, again, a complete package

Medium Attackers
P47D30 - good but you wallow all the way to target
P-38 - another good choice, 2 engines so you can escape when one is damaged
C-Hog - 4 hispanos and lots of ammo, plus a decent bombload.

Lighter Attackers
190A8 - lots of guns.... strafe the hell out of everything.
Typhoon - 2 1K's and 4 hispanos, but not the ammo of the C-Hog.

-Soda
The Assassins.

Used to fly the DHog and CHog for attack.

Lately, I've been flying the P-51B. It doesn't pack as much punch, but it's a fun ride.

Oh... and loading up a Jabo-Zeke can be a hoot also.

how dare you not mention the 190a8 !! :)

780 rds 20mm + 500kg is no slouch :)
