An accountant with too much time on his/her hands came up with this.
Subject: Freak Math
1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have sex. (try for more than once but less than 10)
2. Multiply this number by 2 (Just to be bold)
3. Add 5. (for Sunday)
4. Multiply it by 50. I'll wait while you get the
calculator................
5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1752. If you haven't, add 1751.
6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.
You should have a three digit number. The first digit of this was your original number. The next two numbers are ........... YOUR AGE! (Oh, YES it is!!!!!)

Another one
3 service men went to rent a room for the night the room was $30 so they paid $10 each.
The next morning the manager noticed this and as he had a policy of giving servicemen a $5 discount he sent the clerk to refund the $5.
The clerk noting that he could not split $5 evenly 3 ways decided to give them each back $1 and pocket the other $2.
The net results was that the 3 men paid $9 each for the room, and the clerk kept $2.
Now $9 X 3 = $27 + $2 = $29 explain where the other dollar went.
Math is an inexact science at best. :)

While addition and subtraction are commutative, subtraction is not. Hence the discrepency in the calculation.
The room didnn't cost $27 it cost $25. Then 3 dollars was given back to each man 25+3=28 the man kept 2, 2+28=30.
Or I could be wrong. :eek:

How about the clerk gave the men the $5, but they couldn't split it evenly. So someone pulled out 5 $1, gave each man $1, and tipped the clerk the remaining $2.
$30 - $5 = $25 + ($1x3) + $2 = $30. :D

Let S=1-1/2+1/3-1/4+1/5-1/6+1/7-1/8+1/9-1/10+....
So 2S=2-1+2/3-2/4+2/5-2/6+2/7-2/8+2/9-2/10+...=1-1/2+1/3-1/4+1/5-1/6+1/7-1/8+....=S
So, dividing by S, 2=1

They have you multiply it by 2 and then 50 making it a multiple of 100. Since you're only looking at the last two digits of the info, the whole first part is irrelevant. Its pretty straight forward from there.
forgot to add... the "add 5" after multiplying by two accounts for the 5x50 (250 years) that, when subtracted from 2002 = 1752.

Here's an age old "math" card trick...
Take 21 cards from a deck. Have someone select a card from the 21 you split out. Just have them remember the number, not pull the card out.
Start placing the cards into three stacks. One card to each stack 7 times... left to right or right to left... just not both. You'll end up with 3 stacks of 7 cards.
Pick up each stack and show it to the person (becareful to keep them in the same order they were placed into the stack) and ask if the card they picked is in that group. If it is, place that stack of 7 cards between the other two and repeat the sorting process.
Pick up each stack and ask the person if their card is in that group. If it is, place it between the other two and repeat one more time.
The third time, you still pick up each stack and ask if their card is in it... if it is, it will always be the middle card of that group.

(for the first question)
Assume you have not had your birthday yet this year.
x= sex # y= birth year z= final number
Here is the equation: [50(2x+5)]+1751-y=z
simplify: 100x+250+1751-y=z
100x+2001-y=z
100x will place the first number in the hundreds column.
2001-y will give you your age and put it into the tens and ones column.

Try $9 x 3 = $27 - $2 = $25 (which is what went into the till)
Or try: $10 x 3 = $30 - ($1 x 3) - $2 = $25
Either way is the right way. Just not your way;)

The first equation does not equal the second equation.
The first is referring to a value twice that of the second.

Here's an interesting little puzzle,... If we have two identical clocks, A and B sitting together on the surface of the earth. Now lift clock A to some hieght call it H, hold it there awhile, and return it to the earth at just the instant that clock B has ticked 100s, Clock A will have advanced 107s. What is the value of H?
