-

-
WOW WTG KURAKURA!!
-
Nice work and another great contribution to the AH community. Mitzu you are a great asset to us all
-
how to use em. as far as i can see thse sights consist of 2 pics which belong together. what to do ?
-
Extract the files into your gunsite directory (I think called "sights") Then select in setup (from clipboard) for each plane.
-
Mitsu,
Here are a couple of historical gunsights not included in the list. Any chance of getting them added?
Revi 3D:
Bf109E, Bf110-C
-
And this one:
N-9:
P-51D, P-51K, P-63, A/B-26, B-25
-
This is the general guide to WWII gunsights that I go by:
USAAF K-14/RAF GGS Series
P-51D
P-47D
Late model Spitfires (Mk IX on?)
Late war US Navy fighters (F4U-4?)
The US K-14 (and the virtually identical US Navy Mark 18) was a license-built variation of the British-developed gyro-stabilized lead-computing sight. The sights were largely similar, with some differences in knobs, settings, etc., and used a gyro system to permit the reticle to compensate for relative motion in the firing and target aircraft. The reticles were the same in the US and RAF versions.
US Navy Mark VIII (also Mark 8)
All US Navy and Marine Corps fighters and dive bombers:
F4F
F6F
F4U
SBD Dauntless
As Mark 8, some USAAF fighters (P-47D)
USAAF N-3
P-51B/P-51C
P-47C and early P-47D
P-38F-1 through P-38J-5
P-40
P-39
P-61
B-25
B-26
This sight reticle is also identical to the N-2 sight, which was installed on many early P-40s and the P-35. It is suitable for use in any US-built fighter, including those supplied to the USSR and Britain through Lend-Lease. NOTE: This sight consists of a simple circle with a center dot. It differs from my "RAFMark2" sight only in size (my Mark2 is slightly smaller)
USAAF N-9
P-51D
P-51K
P-63
A/B-26
B-25
The N-9 was the standard USAAF fighter sight by around 1943, until it was replaced by the K-14 gyro sights. It is suitable for use in any US-built fighter, including those supplied to the USSR and Britain through Lend-Lease.
RAF GM2 Mark II
(Also known as
GM 2 Mark IIs, Mark II* and Mark III)
Spitfire Mk. Ia through Vc
Hurricane Mk. I, IIc
Brewster Buffalo
Note: Some sources report that US pilots,
on arriving in England in 1942-43, often replaced their US gunsights with British models, so you would not be out of line using this one in the P-38F, P-51B, or the P-47C.
RAF
Type I, Mark II
Late war British fighters:
Tempest
Typhoon
Spitfire Mk V, Mk IX
Mosquito
Beaufighter
Luftwaffe Revi 3D
Bf109D
Bf109E
This is the sight fitted to early-war Messerschmidt fighters, and is appropriate for the Battle of Britain Bf109E.
Luftwaffe Revi 16B
Bf109G-10
FW190A-8
Me 262
Luftwaffe Revi C12-D
Bf109G-10
Bf109G-6
Bf109G-2
Bf109F-4
Soviet Model PBP-1
IL-2
Pe-2
Tu-2
Yak-1, Yak-3, Yak-7, Yak-9U
LaGG-3, La-5, La-7,
MiG-3
This was the standard Russian reflector sight from 1941 onwards.
Japanese Type 98
A6M Zero series
N1K2-Ja
Japanese Type 3
Ki-100 Siki-sen
Ki-84 Hayate
Ki-61 Hien
Post-and-Ring Sight
This is a "generic" sight appropriate for early war fighters of all nationalities. Post-and-Ring sights were retained on later fighters as "backup" to be used in the event of failure of the reflector unit, and many reflector models, like the US N-9, the German Revi sights, and the Japanese sights above, had integrated "rings" for this purpose.
-
Here's a slight modification I made to Nabe's Revi16B, the ring is bigger and the vertical line will display more solidly in the game.
Please try it and tell me what you think.
-
Cool sights! Thanks for the work!
-
Based on the description given in brady's "Can we Please have a New Italian Plane?" thread in the Aircraft & Vehicles forum I have created a S.Giorgio sight for the Italian aircraft by modifying kurakura's illuminated Revi C16B gunsight.
Here you go for those interested:
-
I am not sure if I downloaded them wrong, but there is an orange and black background and they do not work in the game. Is there something special I have to do to the gunsights. I love these gunsights, but I just can't get them to work...Can someone please help me.
~BlueiceJ~
-
Excellent work! Thanks awfully :)
-
HeLLcAt,
Copy all the bmp files into your \Aces High\Sights\ folder.
In the game use the clip board to go to setup.
Click on the Sights button.
Set each gunsight to the desired aircraft by sellecting the version without the "_alpha" in the name.
For example, I have the P-51D set to k14.bmp. Aces High uses K14_alpha.bmp as a brightness map, if you don't have it in the Sights folder there will just be an orange square in place of the gunsight.
-
I wish someone can make a illuminated sight out of my Revi sights.. :)
-
.. and this one too.. :) the rings are a bit small, but it looks great when zoomed up :D
-
What are the alpha sights for ?
-
Samm,
The alpha sights are the brightness maps for the gunsights. Both files must be in your Aces High/Sights/ folder.
-
Here is Kweassa your sights with some kind of illuminated look.
-
Muchas Arigato Mitsu, you are a most valuable asset to this community. I was wondering where they would make iluminated sights for the other aircraft :D
-
Can anyone explain how the illuminated sights are made? What do you do to modify the standard ones etc.
-
These are great, thanks! :)
-
Mitsu how did you blur them in 256 bit colour .I tried this in 24 bit colour with photoshop and then save it to 256 colour but the bluriness goes away. Aces High only excepts 256 bit colour. My gunsights are 256-256 resolution and are perfectly symetrical and 100% accurate the lines are all 2, 4, 6, or 8 ,no odd numbers

Thanks a lot!!

Please don't ask me about how to make a gunsight.
kurakura made gunsights (not me!), if you like them, please say thank to him.
He's not on this community. and I don't have a technique of drawing. so we can't help you. Sorry.
But mason or other good guys might help you... :D
BTW thanks for using my sound collection, Kevin.
I'd release new sound patch in this week.

Great sights Nabe/kukakura!!
Beautiful Revi-sights!!

Karnak, you right on RAF Brewster Buffalos. Just wanted to mention that finnish Brewsters used finnish Väisälä-reflector sight which was based on Revi 3C
