Im trying to get the look of an old photo out of my screenshots. I can get the grainy look using noise but I see a few of the screenshots in this forum have scratches in them similar to what you would see in an old black n white photo.
Im using PaintShop Pro 7.02. Do you guys use a special plugin and if so, if its free, where can I find it. Thanks.

Yeah :( I was experimenting with a tool that took on a life of its own ;)
-
that looks good except seems somehow off from vintage WWII pix.
i have seen some in this forum a few months back that could pass.
if you find the authors of said photos i'm sure they would share their ideas.
i think i know what is off about pic - too much dynamic range - if B-17 is not a silohette (spelling?) then the sky should not have shading gradations

I find that keeping that faded color look works well too.

Honestly, though,XNachoX,you have played the game for a long time.
Don't you have anything else to do with your time?
(not to mean any thing bad by that)

I have PaintShop 7.04. It comes with some picture frames that look like old photos with torn edges. I found it under Image/Picture Frame. I used it in another post in this forum.

I do this using easypeg. You can download it as freeware. I am still learning how to use it, but it provides fairly good results. I find motion blur and high contrast are key.

nice pic ALF, has the appropriate 'kodachrome' look

i know the program sux but i used photoimpact to add "rain" and increased the length of the lines, changed the opacity, and disperced them more to get this look...
also used a light effect to get the "old yellowed" look.

I don't understand what you're implying? It's summer and I can do whatever I like with my time.

You could try a freeware proggy called Irfanview
http://www.irfanview.com
It's pretty simple to use. To get the below effect, I just changed a screenie to grayscale, then used the 'enhance colors' function to add some green & red (more red than green) and reduce the blue. I don't remember the exact values, but trial and error is easy; changes aren't made to you original until you save.
It could probably be improved upon with some more diddling.

can some one tell me how to get the picture grey in photoshop 6???
-
joe do this:
start with colour RGB picture.
image menu/mode/grayscale/grayscale
if you want a sepia colour do this:
Ok with your grayscale picture.
image menu/mode/duotone
in dialog box that appear leave colour 1 as black and choose a yellow colour for colour 2
Ta da picture is coloured.
before you can save it as a JPEG you must convertthe picture back to RGB.
image menu/mode/rgb
Hope this helps, if you need any more help just post your question, been useing photoshop for almost 10 years now !!
