Title: How trustworth is that hidden refresh rate thing?

I'm talking about under display advanced properties-monitor tab where you have the option to hide refresh rates your monitor is incapable of handling. I'm running at 85hz right now, and I'm sure I really don't need to go higher but... (always the but lol). My list WITH that checked goes above 100hz (at work right now, can't check exact numbers) however I'm a really nervous about going much higher. I got my 19" monitor over 2 years ago very cheap (new, not used or refurbished) at a price where your average 19" was allot more expensive, and I have no idea what brand it is (threw out the box long time ago.. nothing printed on it, still need to look at the back but I don't remember seeing anything there either).

Is that "hidden incapable" list normally accurate or am I asking for a blown monitor if I jack it up to max?

Find the specs on your monitor and make sure you know what it can do. Don't push it above it's listed max refresh for a given resolution to avoid problems.
