.. are some of the best I've heard in a while.
Some of my favorite movie scores:
Road to Perdition
Saving Private Ryan
Band of Brothers (not sure who composed this one)
Unbreakable
Gladiator
The Time Machine
Star Wars
... basically anything by John Williams, James Horner, or Hans Zimmer.
PS.
Tom Hanks is the man. Road to Perdition is an awesome movie.

The music was okay, was a bit too derivative of American Beauty for me. Plus, they kept playing that same type of piano melody from AB over and over during the movie to accompany the 'dark' scenes. It was a bit overwhelming at times... started to become annoying.

My all-time favorite film scores:
The Empire Strikes Back(1980)- John Williams
Vertigo(1958)- Bernard Hermann
The Sea Hawk(1938)- Eric Wolfgang Korngold
Schindler's List(1993)- John Williams
Dances with Wolves(1990)- John Barry

I didn't care for it much. It was pretty predictable, the action cliche', and the story wasn't all that compelling.

"The Mission" is my favorite movie of all time and also has my favorite sound track.

Michael Kamen (http://us.imdb.com/Name?Kamen,+Michael) - Same guy who composed the orchestral arrangements to go with Metallica tunes that they played with the San Francisco Philharmonic, or somethin' like that.

This is another vote for "The Sea Hawk". For 1938 sound technology, the score is still pretty good. My favorites, which I sometimes catch myself humming from time to time:
"The Magnificent Seven" - Elmer Bernstein
"Jaws" - John Williams
"White Christmas" and tunes therein - Irving Berlin
"The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly", title as well as the score from the scene when Tuco is running through the graveyard - Ennio Morricone
And of course, all of the James Bond films - John Barry - and the particular title tracks from "Goldfinger", "View To A Kill", "Live And Let Die" and "Diamonds Are Forever".
"Do you expect me to talk?"
"No, Mr. GoFaster! I expect you to sing!"

Hmm just realized something, that one piano repetitive piano melody from AB/Road to Perdition sounds very similar to Brahms' Fantasias (op. 116), specifically the first Intermezzo beginning at about 1:41 in. The two melodies seem nearly the same.
A coincidence or just more blatant cribbing by composers of today? Draw your own conclusions.
